Many authors compare cities with living organisms, or even with people in general, giving them the metaphysical ability to have feelings, organs and even thoughts. A Chinese artist Lu Xinjian even painted DNA structure, moreover, different for different megacities of the world.
The site Kulturologiya. RF taught us that a geographical map can be made from literally anything. For example, old microcircuits, car license plates, a single piece of pure marble, or even letters.
Chinese artist Liu Xinjiang also created very unusual maps of the world's largest cities. However, he himself says that he drew the DNA of these cities. This unusual project of Liu Xinjiang began with the fact that he viewed satellite images of different cities of the world through the Google Eatrh program. Even then, she began to make sketches, trying to present maps of megacities in the form of conventional lines and icons.
Over time, these sketches were digitized and processed using Adobe Illustrator. This is how the pictures from the City DNA cycle appeared.
It is only at the first glance at the work of Liu Xinjiang that it seems that only chaotically located lines and other geometric elements are drawn there. In fact, all of these images have a clear topographic structure based on the topography of cities such as Moscow, Los Angeles, Tokyo, Shanghai, Stockholm, etc.
So any person familiar with the maps of these megalopolises can easily identify this or that city in the works of Liu Xinjiang. And this is despite the fact that some of the paintings are stylized as something recognizable from completely different sources. Like, for example, the DNA map of New York, in which the Pac-Man field is guessed.
