The debate about which part of the female body is the most attractive has been going on for a long time. Of course, the first thing we pay attention to is a pretty face. It is not for nothing that real beauties study for years to make up, hairstyles and the intricacies of a languid look. And what would happen if the female face suddenly disappeared, or rather, it was replaced by the head of a deer? An absurd idea, isn't it? But it was she who inspired the New York artist Emily Burns to create a series pin-up pictures, on which the girls look very unusual.

Pin-up drawings are a popular trend in the art of the second half of the 20th century, but even today many artists draw posters with half-naked beauties in the corresponding aesthetics. We have already talked about the Soviet and American pin-up, even touched upon the theme of a comic male pin-up. Today we will focus on a kind of "animal" genre.

Emily Burns paints her shocking paintings in oils, the series was named "Deer Girls", which literally means "Deer-girls". In 2008, the artist graduated from the University of Pennsylvania and since then has never ceased to amaze with bright and memorable projects. As conceived by Emily Burns, the current pin-up pictures should inspire the viewer to think about the laws of female beauty, shock the "mixture" of a sophisticated and sensual figure with the head of an animal. In this unusual way, she tries to draw attention to bodily beauty, leveling out any signs of personification of her models.

Emily Burns understands that, unfortunately, beauty is short-lived. In an effort to capture her, the artist tries to comprehend the inner world of a woman, to figure out how society as a whole relates to the manifestations of female attractiveness in everyday life. The “Deer Girls” series is, first of all, a call to overcome the prejudice to the canonical concepts of beauty, to look at the representatives of the fair half of humanity from a completely new point of view.
