Unnecessary documents, which are "stuffed" in the offices of the shredder, turn into small paper noodles, therefore, into garbage. An Israeli artist learned how to benefit from this garbage, more precisely, to apply the "shredder method" in her work. Naama Arad … Her installation titled El Al consists of pictures composed of such paper "noodles". Is that very wide and long. To be able to create these monumental works, Naama Arad cut hundreds of black and white photocopies into strips, transforming two-dimensional landscapes and architectural masterpieces into three-dimensional ones. Falling from the ceiling and creeping along the ground, these paintings seem to be unusual curtains that hide behind them the entrance to another dimension, like a mystical portal. Due to their unusual structure, these art objects do not have clearly defined boundaries, which is why they look like volumetric illusions, a kind of holograms - just not in color, but in black and white. However, it gives them a dramatic effect, like black and white shots in a retro style - a color modern film.
Visitors to the Naama Arad exposition note that at some point when they study these unusual paintings made of long paper ribbons, they begin to feel that they are lost. Lost among the black-and-white landscapes of some illusory, imaginary world that goes beyond the present, beyond the interior of the art gallery. As if they, without knowing it, looked behind these paper "curtains" and passed through the portal that they hide.
