Among other sculptures, the work of Tung Ming-Chin is extremely easy to recognize - people and objects are trying to escape from them, and the tree does not allow them to break through a solid shell, so the viewer can only guess the contours of what is under "Stretched wood tissue".
The sculptor himself explains his sculptures by a subtle play between the conscious and subconscious of the viewer and invites everyone to independently interpret their work. Tung Ming-Chin himself is from Taiwan, he is 39 years old. He admits that it is fundamentally important for him not to give his works either personal names or specific recognizable faces - this way his sculptures are more international, so they become more understandable to people for completely different cultures and traditions, and not only for people from his native Taiwan. And, I must say, this has had an effect in its own way: over the past 15 years, the sculptor has received 10 international awards for his work.
