The world famous American actor Leonardo DiCaprio is determined to fight forest fires in Siberia, although the authorities of Yakutia said they did not need his help. This became known from the local press with a reference to information from the Yakut activists.
According to local ecologists, the Hollywood star had previously promised to tackle the problem of forest fires in Siberia, and recently they received a response from the actor. He said, “Yes, it is. I'm really excited about the fires going on in Siberia. At present, representatives of my foundation are studying this topic, and soon I will move on to action."
Earlier, an activist from Yakutia, Rosa Dyachkovskaya, turned to a Hollywood actor with a request for help in the problem of large-scale Yakut fires. She said that DiCaprio did not ignore this request. As an evidence base, she posted screenshots of the correspondence with the actor on her personal Instagram page. “I understood your problem! Together with my manager, we will contact the authorities and figure out how we can help,”the artist allegedly wrote to her.
In this situation, Sergey Sivtsev, Deputy Minister of Ecology, Nature Management and Forestry of the Sakha Republic, said that forest fires in Yakutia were under control and the authorities were able to cope with the problem without the help of Hollywood.
