More than two years have passed since the day when Dmitry Hvorostovsky, a talented singer, owner of a deep baritone, passed away. It is difficult to convey how the performer's relatives experienced this loss. Parents will never be able to come to terms with this loss, as his beloved Florence will never forget her husband, and children will always lack the wisdom and support of their dad. But their life goes on, even though there is no longer the dearest person in it.
Parents
Alexander Stepanovich and Lyudmila Petrovna, from whose light hand Dmitry Hvorostovsky got involved in music, are still experiencing the loss of their son. Despite the fact that the singer had been struggling with the disease for two years, his parents sincerely believed that he would definitely cope. For a long time they could not come to their senses after the hardest loss, and after that they began to live for the sake of preserving the memory of him.
With their own money, they erected a monument to the son of the sculptor Vladimir Usov at the Novodevichy cemetery. Alexander Stepanovich and Lyudmila Petrovna categorically refused any financial assistance for the creation and installation of the monument. They simply sold their son's apartment, which they inherited, arguing that they do not need additional housing in Moscow, and they want to install the monument themselves.
After the death of Dmitry Hvorostovsky, his parents developed health problems, Alexander Stepanovich sees worse and worse due to progressive glaucoma. But they are actively involved in everything that can help perpetuate the memory of their son. In the fall of 2019, the book by Lyudmila Petrovna Hvorostovskaya “Family History. Siberian Saga dedicated to the Hvorostovsky-Teterin-Weber dynasty.
But the greatest consolation for the parents of Dmitry Hvorostovsky was the communication with the grandchildren, who often visit their grandparents. And they always prepare dumplings for their arrival and buy their favorite sweets of Maxim and Nina, Dmitry's children from his second marriage. Unfortunately, Alexander Stepanovich and Lyudmila Petrovna do not have the opportunity to communicate closely with their eldest grandchildren.
Florence Illi-Hvorostovskaya
Dmitry Hvorostovsky and Florence Illy-Hvorostovskaya have been together for almost 20 years, filled with happiness, love, mutual respect and admiration. She will never be able to forget her first meeting with Dmitry, when he simply froze, looking at her, and later said that he had never met such beauty in his life. They met in Geneva, where Dmitry came to rehearse Don Giovanni, and, seeing Florence, fell in love with her at first sight. However, the girl also immediately understood - this is her person.
He looked after beautifully, gave gifts, surrounded his beloved with care and attention. Dmitry and Florence loved each other very much, and the singer all the years next to Florence looked at her with the same ardent delight that struck her on the day of their acquaintance.
Dmitry Hvorostovsky seemed to be the ideal of a husband and father. Florence was a budding opera singer, but after meeting Dmitry she left the stage, devoting herself to family and children. She does not see any sacrifice in this, she simply chose what was more important to her - her love. Entering the stage, he looked for her with his eyes and, if he did not find it right away, he whispered with his lips only: “Where is Flosha?”. She had to always be there.
As was with him at the time when he was given a terrible diagnosis. She so wanted to believe that he would definitely emerge victorious from this battle with a serious illness. After all, he can do almost anything. But Dmitry Hvorostovsky himself understood what was happening to him. Therefore, he asked his wife to be happy and enjoy every moment, every day.
But after he left, she was far from immediately able to recover. Florence found it hard to even imagine how her life would turn out without him. Florence tries to fulfill her husband's request and learns to be happy. True, every month on the 22nd, a photo of Dmitry Hvorostovsky appears on her page on the social network. And in the signature she writes how many months have passed without him. And under each entry the words: “You are so badly missed. Rest in peace, Dima. I love you forever…"
She still lives in Great Britain, but she very often visits Russia at events dedicated to the memory of Dmitry Hvorostovsky, and visits his parents. In addition, Florence Illy-Hvorostovskaya is thinking about writing a book about her husband and possibly making a film. But now her most important stimulus to life is her children with Dmitry, Maxim and Nina.
Children
Dmitry Hvorostovsky was a father of many children. In his first marriage with the corps de ballet artist Svetlana Ivanova, he had twins Danila and Alexandra. In addition, he adopted Mary, the daughter of his wife.
Maria Hvorostovskaya is happily married and has two children. The eldest daughter Aria was born in May 2018, and in October 2019 Maria became a mother for the second time.
Danila and Alexandra, who are now 23 years old, are graduating from university, while Alexandra is trying herself as an artist, and Danila is playing the lead guitar in a rock band.
Florence maintains relations with the older children of Dmitry Hvorostovsky and is invariably proud of the successes of his own children, Maxim and Nina. Mom wants her son and daughter to play music, but at the same time she understands that their own desire is very important. 12-year-old Nina has been studying music from an early age, she plays the piano and violin, is engaged in acting and dancing. But most of all she likes to sing.
16-year-old Maxim became interested in music not so long ago, but he devotes almost all of his time to this. He plays keyboards, guitar and, of course, also sings. And he also tries to create music himself and complains that opera singing is not given to him.
Life goes on, and the amazing voice of Dmitry Hvorostovsky still sounds. He is desperately missed by those he loved so much.
All words about him are superlative. Best baritone, Siberian nugget, brilliant opera singer. Only now all this is in the past tense. Dmitry Hvorostovsky sang until the last day of his life. When he could not perform on stage, he sang at home. He enjoyed every moment that fate gave him. He played fair with life and remained the winner.
