The evolution of the game Pinball is interesting. From slot machines in bars, it has evolved over time into a super popular video game that every copy of the Windows operating system has become equipped with. And recently pinball became an art object, appearing in an interactive form on the facade one of theaters in Lyon.
A few months ago we are on the site Kulturologia. Ru talked about a very unusual video installation 8-bit invader, created by Czech designer Pavel Novak on the facade of the University of Fine Arts in Zlín. It showed the heroes of the most popular 8-bit video games walking between windows and doors on the floors of a building, something similar recently appeared on the facade of the Celestine Theater in Lyon, France. But this video installation, called by the creators of Urban Flipper, was interactive, and even three-dimensional.
This unusual work was created by the French company CT Light Concept especially for the Festival of Lights 2011. The installation Urban Flipper turned the facade of the Lyon theater into a huge three-dimensional field for playing pinball. With the help of a projector, light flippers (devices for hitting the ball), the balls themselves, many obstacles and springs appeared on the building - in general, the usual elements of a classic pinball.
Moreover, unlike the 8-bit invader installation, Urban Flipper does not display a pre-prepared video, but a fully interactive picture. Light miracles are happening right here and now in front of the audience, and with their direct participation. After all, the creators of Urban Flipper choose random people from the crowd of onlookers to manage this large-scale video installation to the delight of themselves and hundreds of other viewers.
It should also be noted that when creating the field for this interactive pinball game, elements of the facade of the Celestine Theater were actively used - windows, columns, balconies, sculptures, etc. Moreover, they were used in a three-dimensional version, which made the Urban Flipper video installation more voluminous and even more impressive.
