The event took place thanks to the active participation and support of the Kupchino administration. The head of the district, Terenty Vladimirovich Meshcheryakov, said that the purpose of the action was to support Petersburgers who decided to get rid of nicotine addiction and to draw public attention to the topic of combating smoking.
The steel structure weighing 250 kg is a "broken" cigarette with a stop sign. To bend the steel cigarette, the craftsmen made a great effort and burned 2.5 bags of coal.
For six months the monument will stand at the Fakel art center on Sofiyskaya Street, and then it will move to another sports facility. The author of the sculpture was Pavel Nikiforov, and the work was done by the professional blacksmiths of the TAVR Creative Group: Alyosha Popovich and Alexander Sklyamin.
