While everything that can burn in Moscow is on fire, and the residents of the capital dream of a trip “to the village to see their grandfather,” Reint Withaar, an artist from Amsterdam, continues, as if nothing had happened, to paint beautiful rural landscapes: houses, trees, quiet rivers and boats. Bright colors, beautiful nature and the absence of even a hint of smoke in his works - all this is that "ray of light in the dark kingdom", which, according to forecasters, will not touch the residents of the capital for at least another week.
Reint Withaar was born in Amsterdam on July 29, 1928. He became interested in drawing in early childhood and, due to the difficult financial situation of his family during the war, he studied painting with his father. The artist also independently learned batik and working with marble. To help the family, Reint Withaar worked very hard and sold his work.
During the war, Reint Withaar also created posters and, trying in every possible way to cheer up his fellow countrymen, hung them on the streets of the city. So they noticed him. This type of activity has become an excellent support for working in the field of advertising and the artist still cooperates with many advertising agencies. Although the most important for him were and still are paintings. It is in them that the artist, according to him, puts his whole soul.
It took a long time to become a famous artist Reint Withaar, but when it finally happened, he did not hesitate to buy an entire floor in one of the houses in the center of the large tourist city of Elburg. Now there is an art gallery and a studio there, of which he is the director.
In November 2008, the entire creative elite of the Netherlands celebrated the 30th anniversary of the Reint Withaar gallery. The places where he so successfully passed the remaining steps on the path to real glory. It was truly a huge event with many guests.
Reint Withaar's paintings adorned the corridors of the government building in the Netherlands, and, of course, the owners of his paintings (among which there are many well-known collectors) are people with a subtle sense of beauty.

Earthly Paradise in the Middle of the Indian Ocean: How the Island of Socotra looks like a scenery for a fairy tale
Socotra is a Yemeni-owned island located in the Indian Ocean off the coast of Somalia. It is one of the most isolated islands of continental (non-volcanic) origin. Many millions of years ago, it broke away from the mainland, and this event preserved the unique nature of the island. Its flora and fauna turned out to be, as it were, "conserved" from any external influence. The island does not look like a fragment of the earth's land, but like a fragment of another planet. Everything seen there often does not resemble at all
