Beer Festival Oktoberfest - these are not just some gatherings of German drunks with kuffels of a foamy drink, but the largest folk festivals in the world. They last 17 autumn days: 178th Oktoberfest was inaugurated last Saturday, September 17th. Six million Germans failed to pass by beer festival 2011 - and, of course, we will follow their example - and let us not take a sip of the famous German beer, but at least see how others did it!

Beer Festival Oktoberfest this year, Munich Mayor Christian Ude opened the opening ceremony with the first keg of beer. Still would! The dividends that Munich receives from this holiday are enormous (about 500 million euros in 2006 - revenue only from guests' accommodation and travel on public transport). To begin with, only Munich brewers are allowed to participate in the Oktoberfest. This means that only they know how to cook a real Oktoberfestbier, which this year, by the way, was already sold at 9.20 euros per liter. In addition, during the beer festival Munich literally overflows its banks: those who come to the city at this time to look at the famous monuments of culture and art and numerous exhibitions in Munich can hardly see them because of the backs of millions of beer tourists.

To make the event RELATIVELY smooth and peaceful, a special Theresienwine square is allocated for it. Of course, there is no carnage on it, but from the point of view of an ordinary person, all the weeks of Oktoberfest in Teresa's meadow are drunken frenzy, bedlam and a complete mess. Toasts are spread in the air, the clink of mugs, it smells of fried pork legs and potatoes, and the already thoroughly treated guests of the festival are lying in the grass, or even vomiting around the corner.

Supporters of a healthy lifestyle hate Oktoberfest with every fiber of their soul: 7 million liters of beer are drunk at the alcoholic feast (which, by the way, is not so much for 6 million participants). During the Oktoberfest, Munich residents strive to get away from the rampant beer passions and rent an apartment at a higher price. Not all guests come only for beer: hundreds of attractions open during the holiday in Munich, festival events (however, very commercialized ones), contests and costumed processions take place.

Of course, many people note the shortcomings of Oktoberfest: few toilets, sometimes beer is not poured into a mug, the Bavarians themselves are not particularly visible behind thousands of Japanese, Africans, Chinese and other foreign guests … And nevertheless, if you love beer, festivals and the atmosphere of a relaxed holiday - Oktoberfest is the place for you.
