"Do not go, children, to walk to Africa!" - which of us does not remember this song? But photographer Michael Poliza either did not know anything about Korney Chukovsky's warning, or he was not afraid of crocodiles, gorillas, or even Barmaley himself - and nevertheless went to Africa. By helicopter. And he took absolutely amazing pictures, some of which are in front of you.
In 2006, the cherished dream of well-known photographer Michael Poliza came true: together with a friend, he made a helicopter trip over Africa. Gliding smoothly through the air, low above the ground, they flew around 19 countries. Police's captivating - and often surprising - photographs gave him the opportunity to share an extraordinary journey with the rest of the world. The beauty and diversity of the grandiose African continent, captured from a bird's eye view, is truly mesmerizing.
Michael Politsa looks at the world from a new perspective: most of his photographs are taken directly from above. The photographer's helicopter flies over the ground as low as possible, and rises only as high as necessary. Michael takes each viewer with him on the helicopter and gives him enough time to form his own experience. “It can change the way you think about photography,” wrote the New York Times about Michael's unique work.
Michael Politsa made his journey not only for the sake of beautiful photographs. In this way, he tried to change the way we think about Africa. He showed us a continent drowning in its own abundance, rich in colors, extravagant in its beauty, limitless in its diversity.
The policeman is a successful German IT entrepreneur who sold his companies in 1997 and began making expeditions to wild and remote places on our planet. His work has been featured in publications such as National Geographic, Nature's Best Photography, Africa Geographic and Travel Africa.
