The new toy "Buckyballs" is called the modern counterpart of the Rubik's cube. This is a puzzle construction set consisting of individual magnetic balls, which, thanks to their magnetic field, can be fastened into various shapes. But if for some people "Buckyballs" is just a funny thing, then the American Robert Hodgin takes the toy more seriously, turning small balls into stunning sculptures.
All sculptures by Robert Hodgin are composed of spherical and cylindrical magnets. The elements of his works are not held together by anything: the only force that keeps them from falling apart is magnetism. All sculptures by the author are variations on the theme of the dodecahedron - a regular polyhedron made up of twelve regular pentagons. As Robert assures, he considers this very form to be the most harmonious for his magnetic works.
Obviously, magnetic sculptures are very fragile and short-lived - a single careless touch can destroy the entire structure. Robert says that he made his largest and most beautiful sculpture for several hours, but the building could not stand the road to the exhibition. Then the author had to restore the work directly on the spot, but soon it collapsed again due to the large number of spectators who wanted to touch the sculpture. Thus, most people can only see the work of Robert Hodgin in photographs.
Robert Hodgin lives and works in San Francisco. According to the author, he loves magnets and always plays with them when he wants to cope with anxiety or just take a break from everyday problems.

Toy sculptures - "Frankenstein" by Robert Bradford (Robert Bradford)
When we say toy, we do not mean small. No, these sculptures, by the British artist Robert Bradford, are two or even three times larger than an ordinary toy - a doll, a toy soldier, a toy car. And sometimes their size even reaches human height. Why so big, you ask? And the fact is that in order to create one such sculpture, the author needs a whole mountain of ordinary, small toys

Magnetic field as a work of art: installations by Sachiko Kodama
What can connect such fundamentally different disciplines as physics and art? It would seem that nothing: a rare artist did not spit during his school years in physics and mathematics lessons. However, the Japanese artist (and part-time physicist) does not think so, and uses her knowledge of the magnetic field to create original installations
