And again we return to Canada - one of the main winter countries in the world. We have already talked about the wine festival in Niagara - and now we will talk about more familiar winter values. Of course, it's hard to imagine January without a big, fat and good-natured snowman - and Quebec Winter Festival all dedicated to honoring this large anthropomorphic snowball.
It all starts with a house. It is clear to everyone that snowmen do not live in ordinary human houses - they will simply melt. Therefore, preparation for the winter holiday in Quebec starts with the construction of a special house, or rather, a whole palace of ice bricks. For a good snowman, no palace is a pity - and the Quebec snowman is really good. His name is even that - Bonhomme, which literally translates from French as "good man", and correctly - "Good man".
Interestingly, in the first such palace (built during the 1955 festival) there was a joke prison: guests of the holiday were imprisoned there for a short time, who did not give honors to the snowman. So kindness is kindness, and Bonhomme demands self-respect. And a little money: a charity auction is held at the event, donations from which go to the fund of the next festival.
The good man is not entirely snowy. In fact, he is covered with a fluffy white fur coat, and, unfortunately for the hares, he has no carrots on his nose. But Canadians love him anyway. From the posters, the snowman Dobryak observes how ordinary Quebec residents and tourists are having fun: there are amusement rides, slides, sled races … And in the evening, the dark winter sky is lit up with a grandiose volley of fireworks.
In general, if you love snowmen, winter and Canada, then this snowman holiday is just what you need. By the way, this year it started on January 28 and will last until February 13.
