The legendary musical group The Rolling Stones was invited to the town of Lynn, which is located not far from Boston, and play a set, which the group was forced to interrupt 50 years ago due to a thunderstorm. An open letter to the musicians was published by Ted Grant, who claims that a lot has changed in the town since the distant June 24, 1966. Note that Ted is the publisher of the Daily Item newspaper.

It is worth noting that at that time a not very pleasant situation occurred with The Rolling Stones in Lynn. The group performed at one of the local stadiums. When a thunderstorm began, the musicians were forced to stop the concert and leave the stadium. This caused outright indignation among the "fans", which quickly escalated into a scuffle. Some of the spectators broke through the fences, trying to get to the group. The situation escalated so much that the local police had to use force and tear gas. The Rolling Stones were so unpleasantly surprised that they promised never to return to Lynn again.

Ted Grant admitted in his letter that Lynn has far from the best reputation, largely due to the fact that a significant part of the city is made up of ordinary workers. However, according to him, a lot has changed in the town over the past decades. The publisher of the newspaper encourages the musicians to return and perform at least one song for the residents in the anniversary year: "Monkey Man" - the one that they did not finish at some time.

The publishers inform in their letter that Lynn has a new spacious concert hall, many restaurants, and the city and its inhabitants in general have changed for the better during this time. He also promised to personally pick up the band from the airport, drink coffee and play a game of golf with the musicians.
