World's largest collection of Marilyn Monroe memorabilia to be auctioned

Auction house Julien's has announced a new auction, which will sell the largest collection of memorabilia from famed singer and actress Marilyn Monroe, according to officials. It is reliably known that the collection on display is the largest to date. It contains very rare and valuable specimens. In particular, we are talking about props, including the costumes of the actress, in which she played in the films "There are only girls in jazz" and "There is no better business than show business."

According to the information available to the British press, at the moment this entire collection belongs to their compatriot David Gainsborough Roberts. Its total cost exceeds $ 3 million. Among other things, the collection includes Monroe's personal clothing items, posters, recipes, jewelry and some other things. The Briton said that he began to buy up valuable things related to the performer back in 1991.

Until recently, the largest collection of artifacts was kept in the Channel Islands, in the Roberts house. According to him, now the time has come when these things should again be shared with the world. The auction is timed to coincide with the 90th anniversary of Marilyn Monroe. It is assumed that only the black "naked" dress, in which Monroe sang in one of the films, will be sold for an amount of 200-400 thousand dollars. Another dress from the set will be sold for $ 100-200 thousand according to preliminary estimates.

Separately, we note the fact that today things in one way or another related to the famous Hollywood actress are among the most popular among collectors. The most expensive dress of the performer was sold at one time for 5.5 million dollars.
