This kind of creativity, like pumpkin carving, is most often remembered on the eve of All Saints Day. On Halloween, everything is teeming with witches, vampires, werewolves and other evil spirits, partially embodied in these pumpkin sculptures, created by the hands of a wide variety of carving masters. However, some varieties of this art have nothing to do with Halloween. Thus, the Polish sculptor Przemislav (Przemek) turns a pumpkin into unusual lamps, and Marilyn Sunderland creates amazing carved sculpturesthat have nothing to do with the intimidating pumpkin figures that Halloween is famous for. American artist Marilyn Sunderland was born in Columbia, but for the past 30 years has lived and worked in Utah, which is famous for its picturesque landscapes surrounded by mountains, rich fresh colors of nature, transparent rivers and fresh air. All this favorably affects the creative potential and inspiration of the artist, and therefore she does not get tired of inventing more and more new plots for carving, and then decorating pumpkins with them, turning them into stunning art objects worthy not only of a gallery in a museum of modern art, but also royal chambers and the White House. By the way, at one time George Bush bought one of the artist's sculptures to decorate his office in the main government building of the country.
Marilyn Sunderland did not immediately find her vocation in creativity. At first she was engaged in painting, painted portraits and landscapes, tried herself in different techniques - oil, acrylic, ink. But still, it was in carving that her talent as an artist and sculptor was revealed. It is not without reason that Marilyn received several awards for her work, participated in international exhibitions and competitions, and among the owners of carved pumpkin sculptures there are famous businessmen, artists, and politicians. Drawing mood and inspiration from the beauty of nature that surrounds us, the artist decorates pumpkins with floral patterns and ornaments. The intricacies of leaves, flowers and berries, figurines of fish, birds, butterflies cover the sculptures with intricate lace, turning an ordinary vegetable grown in the garden into a masterpiece that you want to touch, examine, admire.
