They created the largest chocolate sculpture, a copy of the Mayan temple, weighing just over 8300 kg!
The object of the image was not chosen by chance: the ancient Mayan civilization is considered the discoverer of chocolate! It was they who began to grow cocoa trees, and also recognized the value of cocoa beans. In the Mayan culture, chocolate was perceived as a cult food of the gods, it was worshiped.
To pay tribute to the Maya for their contribution to the happy lives of sweet tooths around the world, pastry chef Francois Mellet and culinary decorator Stephane Treand decided to capture the famous Kukulkan Temple. The chocolate model completely copies the original at a scale of 1:30; the craftsmen managed to recreate the smallest details of the temple down to the identical number of steps.
The Qzina Specialty Foods record is truly impressive, as the previous weight of the giant chocolate sculpture was just under 3.5 kg. Being true professionals in chocolate business, Qzina Specialty Foods decided to time the creation of the sculpture not only for the anniversary, but also for the opening of the Institute of Chocolate and Confectionery!
