Fish-art - this is the art of the French fashion designer Anne-Catherine Becker-Echivard. She creates her incredible art installations using fish heads housed in doll-like bodies. Anne-Catherine buys fish from the Halles de Rungis covered food market or from a local fishmonger. For her installations, the Frenchwoman uses sardines or mackerel.
Returning to the studio, the artist washes the fish, cleans, then gut and cut off the head, which will later take part in her scenes, and the fish carcass is sent straight to the pan.
Costumes for fish, decorations - everything is sewn and made by the designer herself. She creates models or characters from fish, dressed in costumes, sewn by herself according to her own design. This work can sometimes take up to 3 months.
The artist is often asked the same question: why did she choose a fish as a character in her scenes? Anne-Catherine believes that the fish best reflects its rage and resentment of the deceit of society.
In some photographs, the characters are dressed in uniforms, the artist does not emphasize the masculinity and femininity. Her characters are sexless. This is a person in the general sense of the word, with his shortcomings, vices, reflecting the absurdity of the consumer society.
