On April 15, the traditional Easter festival starts in Moscow. Its main difference from past festivals is that all its events will be televised.
According to Valery Gergiev, the artistic director of the festival, the Easter festival will be known both in America and in Europe. There are preliminary agreements with many TV channels around the world about broadcasting festival events. Several concerts will be filmed, which will be broadcast a little later. This issue will be dealt with by both German and French partners and the Russian Kultura TV channel.
The Easter Festival will offer its guests a wide variety of programs. The symphonic part of this year's festival will be entirely devoted to the work of the genius composer Sergei Prokofiev. The audience will hear all the piano concertos and all the symphonies of the composer. They will be presented to the public in the Great Hall of the Conservatory. This program will bring together the largest number of world stars. These are quite famous musicians - Ferruccio Furlanetto from Spain and Russian Daniil Trifonov.
The choral part of the program is focused primarily on devotees of sacred music. One of the most important highlights of the upcoming Easter Festival will undoubtedly be the “ringing week”. It is designed to revive a truly unique tradition of the entire Russian Orthodox Church.
According to Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, at the moment the relations between culture and the church are very close and warm and are such at the behest of the times. The Moscow Easter Festival, he said, is an excellent example of productive interaction between culture and the Church and an excellent example of good cooperation between all the healthy forces of modern society.
