In reality highest tennis court in the world is located at the top of the Burj al-Arab skyscraper - one of the most luxurious and, most importantly, the tallest hotels in the world. And this is … logical.
The Burj Al Arab Tower Hotel is like a colossal sail that rises 321 meters above sea level. To call it "one of the tallest hotels" is to underestimate, because in terms of height Burj al-Arab is second only to the Rose Tower Hotel. Both buildings are located in Dubai, the capital of the United Arab Emirates. Residents of this city know a lot about true oriental luxury: the price for a room in Burj Al Arab starts from 1000 and goes up to 28,000 dollars per night. But for this money - complete comfort: the hotel calls itself a "seven-star". Indeed - what other hotel can you play tennis on a court in the middle of heaven?
The court is located opposite the famous Al Muntaha restaurant (however, this is not yet the most amazing restaurant in Dubai: remember at least the propeller restaurant in a skyscraper). The place for the game looks like a separate "extension": do the Arabs really love tennis so much that they are ready to spend millions on special architectural solutions? No. The round shape of the court betrays its essence: it is Helipad … But helicopters do not arrive very often at Burj Al Arab, and therefore most of the time it is still tennis court.
Interestingly, the exact height of the court is unknown to anyone other than the architects of the building.
In 2005, during the Dubai Tennis Championships, Roger Federer and Andre Agassi lived in Burj Al Arab. The tennis titans did not miss the opportunity to cross their rackets on the highest court in the world and played several sets.
The best part is that it is almost impossible to fall off the platform, even if you are very keen on chasing the ball: there is a deep wire mesh below. But the balls often fly down from a bird's eye view - only the wind whistles.
