Stanislav Govorukhin decided to shoot his film about love at a time when crime dramas were most popular. But Irina Grekova's story "The hostess of the hotel" impressed him so much that he even took a leave of absence from the State Duma and temporarily changed his deputy's chair to director's.

And the choice of an actress for the main role to an outside observer might seem dubious. Vera could have been played by Maria Mironova, but when the director had almost approved her candidacy, Svetlana Khodchenkova, a student at the Shchukin school, came to audition. True, the girl was going to embody on the screen the image of the heroine's younger sister. Stanislav Govorukhin, seeing young Svetlana in front of him, was actually amazed at her real beauty. In 2003, Svetlana looked like a real Russian beauty: puffy, with a fair-haired braid to the waist.

Like all young girls, she dreamed of becoming slim and fragile, but Govorukhin immediately set her condition: in no case should she lose weight. Svetlana had to obey, however, only while the shooting was going on.

Govorukhin treated the aspiring actress with such tenderness and trepidation, was so caring that rumors of his affair with young Svetlana arose immediately. The admiration with which he looked at Khodchenkova added fuel to the fire. The master, as always, did not comment on what was happening, and the director's legal wife Galina Borisovna did not react to rumors. It seems that at that time only Svetlana Khodchenkova was worried about the publication of the love affair. She was worried, upset, even cried.

Stanislav Sergeevich himself reacted philosophically to all the indignations and suggestions of Svetlana to sue publications publishing the "details" of the novel of a 20-year-old student and a 67-year-old director, and suggested that the girl not pay attention to them. Galina Borisovna Govorukhina agreed to comment on what was happening at that time only three years after her husband left.

Galina and Stanislav Govorukhin lived together for more than half a century, and during this time more than one young and pretty actress was called the beloved of the great director. Svetlana Khodchenkova was not the first and by no means the last in this row, although she occupied a very special place.

Stanislav Sergeevich openly admired the talent of the young actress and predicted a great future for her. He praised her in front of the entire film crew, gave her extraordinary compliments, once even made her think, saying: "Svetka, you are organic, like a dog!"

Moreover, Svetlana herself treated the director with great warmth. How could it be otherwise, if he believed in her, forced her to reveal herself on the set and, in fact, made a real star out of an unknown student? Galina Borisovna herself admitted in an interview: her husband was absolutely delighted with Svetlana, she became his muse for a while. It was simply impossible not to fall under her charm. But he loved only her, his lawful wife, and there was never any talk of an affair with Khodchenkova.

But at the same time, Galina Govorukhina is confident in her husband's loyalty. Whatever happens outside the walls of their house, he never once gave her a reason to doubt his love. The director's widow does not hide: if for even a moment she felt coldness on his part in relation to herself, she would have left Govorukhin without a shadow of doubt.

She never insulted her husband with suspicion and mistrust, did not accompany him on the set, if he did not ask her about it, did not look for confirmation of his infidelity, even when they tried to convince her that Govorukhin fell in love with another actress. Today Galina Borisovna admits: if there were any hobbies in her husband's life, she would never know about it. She was madly in love with her husband, but at the same time she would never forgive betrayal, and Stanislav Govorukhin knew this. And he was not going to lose the woman who became the main one in his fate.

Stanislav Sergeevich passed away three years ago, unable to overcome a serious oncological disease. And Galina Borisovna still talks about him with warmth and tenderness. She could not come to terms with the loss of the most dear person and does not hold back tears, remembering the departure of her beloved husband.

Galina fell under his crazy charm literally at first sight, and at first he considered her too small for a relationship. Stanislav Govorukhin gladly accepted signs of attention from his many fans, and Galina cried at night from resentment. And yet, fate tightly intertwined their lives: for more than half a century they have been unfailingly happy in their love.
