They say the director George Danelia 30 years ago I started to make sad movies, but funny ones came out. I decided to leave him funny, but the result was sad. Probably, this is how tragicomedies are born. Famous film "Kin-dza-dza" might not have appeared on the screens, since the filming process was constantly accompanied by various troubles and unforeseen difficulties. The members of the film crew joked that these aliens interfere with the work of earthlings because they told too much too much about them.
If it were not for the director's big name, this script would never have gone beyond the offices of the Mosfilm management - the story about the inhabitants of the planet Plyuk of the Kin-dza-dza galaxy sounded very strange. A. Kamshalov, Chairman of the USSR State Committee for Cinematography, told the director: "If it were not your script, I would have quit reading this nonsense on the first page!" The script was written for a very long time, and when it was finally finished, its authors Georgy Danelia and Rezo Gabriadze joked that the sentry on the street managed to rise from sergeant to senior lieutenant.
When everything seemed to be ready: they built the pepelats (flying machines), scheduled shooting for the spring, bought tickets for the entire film crew to the Turkmen city of Nebit-Dag - it suddenly turned out that the cargo with the pepelats was lost on the way. The railroad workers could not find him in any way, since no one understood what kind of “pepelatsy” it was indicated in the invoices. Only a month and a half later, complex structures of a threatening appearance and incomprehensible purpose were discovered in Vladivostok. Due to this forced hitch, the shooting in the desert had to be carried out in the midst of the summer heat.
Troubles followed one after another. The first set was destroyed by a drunk driver, the second was destroyed by a hurricane, and a rocket specially designed for filming exploded on launch. The Mosfilm sewing shop refused to work on this film due to overload. Therefore, the costumes had to be tinkered with improvised means. Dressers got hold of several flight suits and gutted them for "spare parts": ribbons, springs, pads, metal rings, etc. were used. And the main items of wardrobe on the planet Plyuk were warm underwear of the "Zarya" company - T-shirts and long johns.
I had to cut out some moments of the script, and refuse to participate in some of the actors. So, originally the film was called "Stardust", and Leonid Yarmolnik was supposed to play the seller of cosmic dust. As a result, this episode was cut out and a new name was invented - "Kin-dza-dza", which was born by accident. The director told about it this way: “At first we had a hammock in the pepelatse. Leonov swayed in it. Lyubshin sat down next to him, asked: “What do you have in your briefcase?” Leonov, behind him, like an echo, repeated: “Fele-fele-fele…” - then he replies: “Greens”. - "What?" - "Kinza". And let's sing: "Kin-dza-dza-dza …" I sang all the way. “Can't you shut up?” The song went to ashes. The name remains … ".
The director liked the acting performance of Bronislav Brondukov and specially for him came up with a role in the film "Kin-dza-dza". But when the shooting of the tragicomedy began, Brondukov fell ill with a stroke. Danelia in this role did not see anyone else, so he removed this episode from the script altogether.
The main word on the planet Plyuk, expressing all emotions, was "Ku!" When the shooting of the film was already underway, Chernenko came to replace Brezhnev, and all the newspapers were full of his initials: KU Chernenko. So that no one would see politically unreliable hints in the harmless "ku", they wanted to replace the word with another, but then Chernenko died, and everything was left unchanged.
According to the scenario, the heroes ended up on Alpha instead of Earth due to the fact that everyone sipped alcohol, because the Violinist was not carrying vinegar, but chacha. When the shooting came to an end, an anti-alcohol campaign was launched in the country, and we had to urgently look for a “decent” replacement.
The film "Kin-dza-dza" failed at the box office and took only 13th place - the audience expected a comedy from Danelia, but received a philosophical cinematic parable. Many simply did not understand the picture, although the word "ku" among young people has become very popular. Another film by this director was much more popular: how the Soviet comedy "Mimino" was filmed.

Why did the Germans want to kidnap Stalin, Roosevelt and Churchill, and why they did not succeed
The plan to kidnap the leaders of the "Big Three" states could be called an adventure, if not for the punctuality and scale with which the Germans were preparing for the operation. Thanks to the timely detention of SS saboteurs and the arrests of German agents, the USSR special services managed to disrupt the operation already at the first stage it was completed
