The next anniversary of the lifting of the blockade of Leningrad is increasingly alienating us from the terrible events of wartime, but we must not forget about the pain and suffering that ordinary residents of the rebellious city endured. Sergei Larenkov combines photographs of Leningrad during the war years with photographs of modern St. Petersburg taken from the same angle. The result is incredibly soulful and soul-catching photo collages.

A similar idea was used in the amazing project of the photographer Seth Taras called "Know where you stand"… The project is based on combining documentary photographs with modern photographs taken from the same position. The resulting collages look pretty impressive.
