This actor played about 80 roles in films, but most of the audience remembered him in the images of the professor-archaeologist from "Gentlemen of Fortune" and the King from "Cinderella". His acting career began in the mid-1930s. and developed quite successfully for 30 years, until one day on the set Erast Garin lost his eye. This unfortunate incident was the first in a series of sad events that caused a severe lingering depression that poisoned the last years of the actor's life …
Erast Garin (real name - Gerasimov) was born in 1902 in Ryazan. After leaving school, he volunteered for the Red Army, but he did not have to fight - oddly enough, it was there that his acting career began. For the first time, Erast appeared on the stage at the Ryazan garrison theater - the 1st amateur theater of the Red Army. There he also took the stage name Garin.
When the aspiring actor arrived in Moscow, Vsevolod Meyerhold appreciated his talent and invited him to his director's workshop. Erast called Meyerhold the Master all his life, and he wrote that Garin was his favorite student and the most respected theater actor. Colleagues whispered that Meyerhold creates all productions specifically for Garin's favorite. Even to his wife, he said, “” Judging by the fact that he was the only one who was allowed to argue with the director, this was true. The professionalism of the actor was set as an example for his students and Konstantin Stanislavsky. Some of the theater critics calculated that during one of the performances the hall burst out laughing 300 times, and this almost always happened during Garin's exits.
At the age of 20, Erast Garin became a member of the troupe of the Moscow Academic Theater. Meyerhold, later appeared on the stages of the Proletkult Workers' Theater, the Leningrad Comedy Theater, and the Film Actor's Studio Theater in Moscow. His film debut took place later - at that time he was 32 years old. Their collaboration with the writer and screenwriter Yevgeny Schwartz turned out to be very fruitful - Garin played the King in the movie fairy tales "Cinderella" and "An Ordinary Miracle" according to his scripts, and in the second of them, together with his wife Hesei Lokshina, he acted as a director. Best of all, the actor succeeded in comedic roles - the audience remembered him in the image of the main character's grandfather in Eldar Ryazanov's film "A Girl Without an Address."
Erast Garin managed to play dozens of roles in cinema and theater and was actively filming until, in the mid-1960s, a tragedy happened on the set of the film "Merry Rasplyuevsky Days", where Garin and his wife again acted as a director. as a result of a car accident, the actor lost an eye. The second eye survived, but saw very poorly. After that, the directors practically stopped inviting him to the shooting, which was a serious blow for Garin.
In the late 1970s. the brilliant comedian was out of work. In addition, the actor's peculiar appearance (a thin physique, an oblong face, a long pointed nose, protruding ears, deep-set eyes) did not give him the opportunity to play serious dramatic roles, especially the main ones - the directors saw him only in a comedic role, and they called him a real element movie tales. The artistic council of the Lenfilm film studio refused Garin to play the main roles, since his appearance, in their opinion, did not correspond to the image of the Soviet positive hero. But even episodic roles in his performance became vivid and memorable. One of his last notable roles was professor-archeologist Maltsev in Gentlemen of Fortune.
At that time, he was already 64 years old, and there were few prospects in the profession without it. When proposals from directors stopped coming, Garin started dubbing cartoons. The most memorable was his Eeyore Donkey in the cartoons about Winnie the Pooh - it is impossible to imagine this character without Garin's voice! The creator of these cartoons, director Fyodor Khitruk said: "".
Actress Zoya Zelinskaya, who worked with Garin at the Satire Theater, said: "".
In recent years, the actor lay in his apartment without getting up. Due to his loss of sight, he could not even read. He suffered greatly from the fact that he was abandoned and forgotten, and even stopped talking. The actor's common-law wife, Lyubov Rudneva (she had a daughter from Garin, but she never married him) said: "". In 1980, 78-year-old Erast Garin passed away. His relatives said that he died of melancholy, resentment and oblivion, never being able to understand why his work suddenly became unnecessary …

The plan to kidnap the leaders of the "Big Three" states could be called an adventure, if not for the punctuality and scale with which the Germans were preparing for the operation. Thanks to the timely detention of SS saboteurs and the arrests of German agents, the USSR special services managed to disrupt the operation already at the first stage it was completed

Who and why wrote letters "far and wide", and Why did they violate the norms of etiquette
Such a letter looks like some kind of cipher, and indeed, it takes some effort to read it. But the sender did not pursue the goal of confusing the recipient of the correspondence. And you shouldn't blame him for untidiness: the reason why the letter was written crosswise is rather sympathetic, even if it is known that Jane Austen and Charles Darwin once resorted to this method, being perfectly aware of the fact that they are violating some rules of etiquette

Antiheroes and Heroes in Soviet Films: What They Promoted and Why Did They Fall in Love with Them
Cinematography in the USSR was one of the most massive propaganda tools, which had to convey clearly defined ideas to the viewer. For this, characters that would be as understandable as possible were ideally suited. There was no question of any semitones, the main character was utterly positive, and negative, one must assume, was negative in everything.
