On February 18, 2021, Andrei Myagkov passed away. It is difficult to imagine domestic cinema without this wonderful actor, who knew how to touch the brightest feelings in the soul of every spectator with his talent. Touchingly naive and open in his roles, he was actually a very closed person, not prone to revelations. Andrei Vasilyevich rarely spoke about his personal life, although there was something to tell about.
Frustrated chemist
In 1956, Andrei Myagkov, at the insistence of his father Vasily Dmitrievich, associate professor at LTI, entered the Leningrad Institute of Chemical Technology, after which he served at the Institute of Plastics. In his student years, he studied at the student theater workshop, where he was seriously carried away by the stage, but could not quit his studies, again submitting to the demand of Vasily Dmitrievich.
The first love
Andrei Myagkov lived with his wife, actress Anastasia Voznesenskaya for more than half a century, and always looked at her with undisguised love and tenderness. However, she was not actually his first love, but a classmate at LTI Tamara Abrosimova. Young people studied together in a student theater studio, and later began to dream of a professional stage. Tamara Abrosimova left her studies at the Institute of Technology after the third year and entered the Moscow Art Theater School. Before the girl left for the capital, Andrei Myagkov gave her a teddy bear, which she still keeps.
He himself became a student at the Moscow Art Theater School a few years after Tamara. But in the capital, Andrei Myagkov met Anastasia Voznesenskaya, who immediately overshadowed all other women for him. Tamara Abrosimova, seeing what the relationship with Anastasia meant for him, easily let go of her first love. For more than half a century she has been serving at the Komissarzhevskaya Theater and all this time calls him her “dear person”.
The Irony of Fate
The actor could not get the role of Zhenya Lukashin, because the chairman of the USSR State Committee for Cinematography, Philip Yermash, told Eldar Ryazanov that Myagkov should absolutely not be removed. The reason was very simple: the official decided that the actor had actually come to the audition in a state of strong alcoholic intoxication.
Fortunately, Eldar Ryazanov managed to insist on the candidacy of Myagkov, giving him preference over Andrei Mironov and Oleg Dal, who, according to the director, would not be credible in the image of a hero hesitant towards women. Myagkov, on the other hand, played this role gracefully, easily and very naturally.
A kiss on duty
With Barbara Brylskaya, Andrei Myagkov did not even have friendly relations on the set, rather, they were strained. As the Polish actress later admitted, it was very difficult to communicate with the actor, and in life Myagkov is not at all as sweet as his on-screen character. Therefore, the kiss in the frame, which touched more than one generation of spectators, was given to both with great difficulty and solely on duty.
Two birthdays
While working on "Cruel Romance", the actor almost died. In the scene where Paratov takes Larisa Ogudalova away on a steamer, the hero Myagkova rowing on a boat behind them. Not finding his bearings in time, Andrei Myagkov came too close to the steamer with spinning huge blades, hitting right under them. The first blade struck directly at the bow of the boat, the second hit the stern. All members of the film crew were in a panic, and the operator even decided that he was filming the last minutes of the actor's life. Fortunately, Myagkov somehow miraculously managed to swim out, but since then every year he celebrates his second birthday.
Detective author
For the sake of his beloved wife, the actor took up literary work. Anastasia Voznesenskaya is a big fan of the detective genre, but among all the variety of books it was difficult for the actress to find a truly fascinating work, and besides, written in good language. And Andrei Myagkov began to satisfy the discerning taste of his wife himself. For her, he wrote three detective novels in a row, which she appreciated. And on the basis of the trilogy, the eponymous series "Gray Gelding" was filmed.
Portrait painter
Andrei Myagkov could well be called a talented person in everything. He was an amazing actor, knew how to transform into any image, improvised well, composed detective stories, and was also engaged in portrait painting. True, as Eldar Ryazanov said, he was distinguished by a very peculiar sharp manner. The portraits painted by Andrei Vasilyevich never flattered those whom he portrayed.
Fatherly concern
For many years, Andrei Myagkov taught acting at the Moscow Art Theater School. Students noted that he always treated them with truly fatherly warmth and care, never made harsh remarks, on the contrary, made them very correctly, trying not to offend the young talent in any way. Unfortunately, Andrei Myagkov and Anastasia Voznesenskaya did not have their own children. As the actors admitted, work took too much of a place in their life in their youth.
Andrey Myagkov has always been a very closed person, and in recent years he refused any communication with strangers. After his wife Anastasia Voznesenskaya suffered a stroke in 2013, he resigned from the Chekhov Moscow Art Theater, where he served for 30 years, and even stopped answering phone calls.
On February 18, 2021, Andrei Myagkov passed away. According to preliminary data, the reason for the departure of the 82-year-old actor was heart failure.
Sometimes it's not difficult to keep a marriage for some higher purpose, but keeping love for life is a real talent. Andrey Myagkov and Anastasia Voznesenskaya not just lived together for more than half a century. Until the last day of the actor's life, they still looked at each other tenderly and touchingly held hands. Their love was able to overcome all adversity.
