December 2020 will mark 45 years since the release of the magnificent musical fairy tale New Year's Adventures of Masha and Viti. Two young actors, who played the main roles in it, became idols of Soviet children for many years. Of course, everyone was sure that Masha and Vitya, when they grow up, will become artists and most likely get married. Today Natalia Simonova and Yuri Nakhratov are successful adults who recall their creative childhood with pleasure, but they no longer have anything to do with cinematography.

When Yura Nakhratov appeared at the screenings, the directors Igor Usov and Gennady Kazansky did not doubt for a minute: this boy is a real Vitya. Yura was fond of technology and modeling, loved the magazine "Science and Life", he could endlessly talk on technical topics, and he also had experience of working in front of the camera - the little actor already had three small roles behind his back.

During the filming, this little techie was really interested in everyone without exception: how the smoke machine works, what the scenery is made of, how Baba Yaga's stupa flies. After school, having survived the peak of popularity, Yura did not continue his film career, but entered the Leningrad Military Mechanical Institute at the Faculty of Mechatronics and Management. Today he lives in St. Petersburg and works in commercial structures.

But the choice of the girl for the role of Masha surprised everyone, including Natasha Simonova herself. The girl came to take part in the casting, but did not perform very well - she sang the song out of tune. Even her mother understood her, seeing a line of smart and confident applicants, that her child was not quite what was needed for a movie: Natasha was quite ordinary in appearance, and, moreover, she also lisped. However, the directors liked it just like that - natural and sweet, and then they did not regret their choice.

Natasha did not have acting experience, but she had enough talent. The girl very organically blended into the fairy tale and after the release of the film became the dream of many boys. For her, "New Year's Adventures of Masha and Viti" became the beginning of her creative path. While studying at school, the young actress participated in three more films, albeit in small roles. For a girl who grew up without a father, filming became a real springboard to a completely different life.

Later Natasha said: “I did not have a dad, instead of him I was raised by Igor Vladimirovich (IV Usov, director of the film). I was a very sad and withdrawn girl. I only painted with black paints. We had a very poor family, I had only one doll. After I met Igor Vladimirovich, I got toys. He helped me buy a piano, because without music, in his mind, it was impossible to live. The main gift for Natasha in December 1975 was the film itself. Igor Vladimirovich Usov reached an agreement with the management, and the movie, scheduled for December 28, was shown three days earlier, on the main character's birthday.

After school, Natalia had to make a choice - whether to become a professional actress. The girl first tried and entered the Leningrad Institute of Theater, Music and Cinema, but survived there for only two years and then moved on to study at the Faculty of Philosophy of Leningrad University. She always believed that she made her choice correctly, especially since very soon she married a classmate.

Today the former fabulous "Masha" has a wonderful family and three children. Every year at the end of December, she will call her "Vitya" to congratulate him on the upcoming holiday, and their children, like several generations of young spectators, watch a wonderful New Year's fairy tale, in which their seven-year-old parents again save the Snow Maiden, so that finally something could come New Year.

"New Year's Adventures of Masha and Viti" has become one of the movie symbols of the most beloved winter holiday. Together with this fairy tale, we usually manage to see Gentlemen of Fortune, The Magicians, and, of course, The Irony of Fate. However, not all of these pictures are understandable to foreign audiences. The best Soviet New Year comedies evoke a wide range of feelings in foreigners: From delight to rejection
