Dreamed insects could find out about the impending disaster. A special place was given to bees. These hardworking buzzing creatures dreamed not for good, and if one of them bit, then it was worth waiting for a terrible fire. Manifestations of sexuality in old Russia were considered an unclean and sinful affair. Erotic dreams were also ranked among the so-called fornication, masturbation and other condemned ways of satisfying sexual desire. They were called devilish obsession, as well as such a physical phenomenon as emission in a dream. For such a "crime" the church could impose the following punishments: fasting, penance, prayers with a predetermined number of bows. Masturbation was considered one of the most common sins. Such actions, even if they were performed during sleep, belonged to the category of calling the Devil. The person who did this was absent from confession for three years, and in order for the sinful sleep to be redeemed, it was supposed to perform daily prayers with 24 bows to the ground.
Terrible transformations with the body and what they predicted
Some of the signs associated with sleep have survived to this day. For example, it is always unpleasant to see in a dream a person whose facial features or body proportions have changed terribly. In ancient times, dreams with strange transformations, when a person's height changes greatly, a face is terribly distorted, a long nose grows or another eye appears, thick hair grows on the arms, legs and body, and others were interpreted as a danger of a serious, fatal disease. It was necessary to pray, and then, perhaps, the attack could retreat.
You should have gone to church even when you had to give something to someone in a dream, that is, the dream spoke of loss and loss. Moreover, they could be not only material, but also spiritual. The color of the clothes also played a role. For example, a man dreamed of a wife in white or black clothes - bad. Black is mourning, funeral, and shrouds were usually sewn from white fabric.
