The other day, an extraordinary event happened: the Pentagon unexpectedly published three previously classified videos. In the recordings, US Navy pilots collide with unidentified flying objects. The Pentagon claims these black and white videos are "unexplained aerial phenomena." Previously, similar videos were published on the network, which allegedly captured UFOs. According to US Department of Defense officials, these recordings are the only real evidence of a UFO encounter.
The clips themselves are not very high quality, the image is black and white, grainy. Similar videos have been circulating on the Internet for more than ten years. The first entries were published in 2007, then back in 2017. The events that are captured on them took place in 2004 and 2015. Many are sincerely convinced that this is nothing more than evidence of the existence of extraterrestrial intelligent life.
A statement published on the official website of the US Department of Defense contains information about why these videos were declassified. The text of this statement reads: "This was done in order to clarify any misconceptions of the public about the reality of the records distributed on the Internet."
It was also stated that careful analysis of these videos does not reveal any evidence that this is an alien invasion. Of course, this does not prevent in any way from carrying out various studies in this area. Any incursion into US airspace will be carefully scrutinized and all security measures will be taken in the event of a military attack.
When these tapes were released in 2017, journalists interviewed two pilots who witnessed the incidents. One of them described the phenomenon as "a spotted plane that flew as fast as no other aircraft he had ever seen." Then he added that he was "quite exhausted" then.
A year ago, a publication such as The New York Times published another article about this, joining two videos that were filmed by pilots in 2015. The material included interviews with other pilots who saw unidentified flying objects rushing at an unusually high speed.
To study these phenomena in the United States, there was a special secret program of the Pentagon. However, the century of its existence was short-lived - only five years. The Pentagon said that there are higher priority tasks that need funding and the program has been scaled down.
Former Senator Harry Reid (Nevada), who initiated the UFO research program, later tweeted about it: "I am extremely pleased that the Pentagon has decided to finally declassify this information." He also added that the research done is terribly superficial and the US needs to take it seriously. After all, this is of great importance for national security. The American people deserve to be informed.
Jonathan Marcus, a security correspondent, said: “The fascination with the unexplained and mysterious has never disappeared from people. The UFO phenomenon is probably the most curious of all. It unites in itself all questions about unknown worlds.

The US Navy now calls unidentified flying objects "unidentified aerial phenomena." But in the collective consciousness, the abbreviation UFO is so deeply rooted that it will not be so easy to oust it.
