In the days of the Soviet Union, each of our today's heroes was famous and popular. It seemed that in the USSR they had everything an actor could want: fame, recognition, success. But many famous actors in the USSR went overseas in their time in search of a better life. But whether they managed to find this very best life in a foreign land, read in our today's review.
Elena Solovey
The actress, along with her husband and children, went to the United States in 1991. It cannot be said that she suffered a failure there, but nevertheless, she did not find the fame and recognition that Elena Solovey had in the USSR in America. Elena Yakovlevna performed in the troupe of Anna Kigel, hosted a program on Russian radio, starred in several TV series, playing very small roles. Sometimes Elena Solovey enters the theater stage in Canada, and the main income of the actress is teaching acting.
Oleg Vidov
The actor moved to the United States in the mid-1980s after he met his third wife, journalist Joan Borsteen, in Italy. In America, Oleg Vidov's life was quite successful, he and his wife created a company that was engaged in the distribution of films outside the former Soviet Union, having received a license for this type of activity. In addition, Oleg Borisovich from time to time acted in films, including in "Wild Orchid", "Red Heat", "Three August Days". In 1989, the actor was able to defeat the oncological disease of the brain, but in 2017 he died from complications of myeloma.
Rodion Nahapetov
In the late 1980s, a successful actor and director decided to move to the United States in an effort to realize himself abroad, while in the USSR his last film "At the End of the Night" was not a success. However, films made by the director did not become popular in America either. The company "RGI Productions", created together with his second wife in 1995, began to actively cooperate with Russian television, and since 2003 he actually transferred all his activities to Russia. Rodion Nakhapetov retains American citizenship and is actively involved in charity work, helping sick children in Russia.
Ilya Baskin
This actor was remembered by the Soviet audience, first of all, for the role of a disheveled student in "Big Change". But already three years after the release of the popular tape on the screens, he emigrated to the United States. At first, his career did not develop, but he stubbornly went to auditions, sent out his resumes, and at the same time worked in bars and restaurants. His persistence gave its results: Ilya Baskin was noticed and invited to the shooting. Nine years after arriving in the United States, the actor received American citizenship, and later married.
His career was quite successful, he actively starred in films and TV shows. The filmography of his American works includes about eighty projects, including the films "The Airplane of the President", "Transformers", "Cool Walker", "The Eldest Son" and others.
For many years, Ilya Baskin was friends with Savely Kramarov, who came to the United States in the early 1980s.
Savely Kramarov
The popularity of the actor in the Soviet Union was incredible. As soon as he appeared on the screen, the audience was already ready to applaud. When the actor's uncle was about to emigrate to Israel, Savely Kramarov was not allowed to follow the only relative he had. In addition, it has practically ceased to be filmed.
Out of despair, the actor turned directly to US President Ronald Reagan in an open letter. Thanks to this, he received a visa and soon flew to Los Angeles. But in America Savely Viktorovich, in fact, never found himself. A couple of years after the move, he began to appear in episodes, but in a decade and a half he was able to appear in only a dozen films.
In 1995, he was already approved for a rather serious role, but then the actor was diagnosed with cancer of the sigmoid colon. Instead of the film set, Savely Viktorovich went to the hospital. The treatment did not give positive results, on the contrary, it caused numerous complications. In early June 1995, Savely Kramarov passed away.
Andrey Alyoshin
He became famous for playing the main role in "State Border", embodying the image of Valery Belov, the captain of the border troops. Andrey Alyoshin continued to act and dreamed of filming his own film. In the United States, he left for only a couple of months to shoot his films there. But in America, the project did not work out, and the actor did not want to return.
Andrei Alyoshin began to go to auditions and auditions, but the proposed episodic roles did not suit him, and no one was in a hurry to approve him for the main characters. The actor had to master new horizons - he worked as a waiter, was involved in the organization of construction, worked in an organization that helps children with cancer, served as a station caretaker, made some documentaries, then mastered the art of photography and now devotes his life to him.
From time to time, the Land of the Soviets was shocked by reports that this or that actor or athlete decided to stay abroad, refusing to return from the tour. Not everyone who fled the USSR in search of recognition, professional growth and high incomes had a successful life. For many, talent has allowed them to achieve success, while others have not been able to cope with loneliness and depression.
