A series of extraordinary costumes and dresses "Weedrobes" from the Canadian artist Nicole Dextras is a real floral fashion fantasy of a creative person. Completely impractical, short-lived and not for going out to high society, her female and male eco-friendly outfits are "sewn" from the leaves of trees and plants, twigs, vegetables and flowers, and their organic structure indicates the relationship between the human body and the earth.
Nicole Dextras works with natural and environmentally friendly materials to create compositions that will later wither and disappear from the face of the earth, leaving no trace. Photography is the only evidence of the existence of a once beautiful or funny attire. The artist's works may seem ridiculous and theatrical, but they have an idea. Clothing made from plants shows the fleetingness of our life and the consumer attitude of a person to the environment.
Nicole Dextras graduated from Emily Carr College of Art in Vancouver in 1986. Prior to that, she studied dance, painting and graphic design at the Kootenay School of the Arts. Started working on floral dresses and vegetable suits in 2007, using the material that gardeners usually want to get rid of, using, quite simply, weeds. But later, she began to use such material as flowers, leaves and even vegetables.
Nicole Dextras's artistic compositions are on display in many Canadian cities, including Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver.

"Everything flows, everything changes". Ephemeral beauty in the work of Nicole Dextras
Artist Nicole Dextras is very fond of working with clothes, but she does it in very unusual ways. For example, her work is highly dependent on the time of year and the weather outside. If it's summer, then Nicole goes to the garden, where she picks up weeds and turns them into beautiful dresses. If it is winter outside, the artist takes ready-made clothes and … freezes them in blocks of ice. It's worth seeing, isn't it?
