Endless lavender fields captured by Antony Spencer, at first glance, resemble Provencal landscapes, but in fact they have nothing to do with France. Beautiful pictures were taken in England in the county of Somerset.
Somerset County is home to a real paradise - Somerset Lavender Farm. The farm is open to visitors during the summer months, so everyone can see how lavender is grown and essential oils are obtained from it. Visitors will find 20 types of lavender here, each with its own unique healing properties. A walk in a wonderful garden will not only bring aesthetic pleasure, but also benefit your health.
The area of the lavender field is more than 20,000 square meters, there are about 50,000 plants. In addition to lavender, the field is sown with other medicinal herbs. Thyme, lemon balm, arnica - visitors can enjoy a real "cocktail" of scents. The lavender field was first planted in 2004 and has since become the hallmark of Somerset County.
For several years now, photographer Antony Spencer has been visiting the lavender field to enjoy the natural landscape in the spirit of the best examples of impressionist painting. His amazing pictures are the result of painstaking work, since there are only about 10 days a year when lavender has already blossomed, but it has not yet begun to be harvested. The field, shrouded in pre-dawn haze, looks fantastic. Perhaps speaking about the lavender photographs of Antony Spencer, one can recall the words of the Provencal artist Christian Jekel: “When I paint a violinist, I try to hear the music of the violin. And when I paint flowers, I would like to be able to catch their scent."
