A collection of non-standard, provocative and generally amusing portraits of celebrities was presented at an exhibition in San Francisco by a contemporary artist Scott Scheidly … The series is called "Portraits: A Series of" Incredible "Descriptions of Tyrants, Dictators and Popes", and indeed, the people depicted in these paintings appear before the audience in a different light … and in a different color too. As you might expect from the title, Scott Shadley portrayed the famous tyrant politicians and the Pope in his paintings. But not as we are used to seeing and perceiving them, but in an unconventional form for them, one might even say glamorous. What is Kim Jong Il in pink glasses with hearts, or Joseph Stalin in a pink frame and with a pink flower on his cap!

In a series of unusual portraits of characters that are iconic for history, the artist deliberately emphasized their softness and somewhat femininity, moving away from brutal images as far as possible. Therefore, each picture has a certain delicate and cute detail, be it an ornate pink frame, jewelry, accessory, or a piece of clothing. In combination with the historical events in which the characters depicted in the paintings were involved, a certain effect of confusion is formed, and this has its own charm.

Surely many people will find such a new look at world-famous characters amusing and funny, but there will also be those who will object, considering this approach to portraying politicians and clergy to be blasphemy and sacrilege. However, there is no shortage of visitors to the gallery, where these and other paintings by Scott Shadley are displayed, and never was. You can get to know more about his work on the website.
