Igor Severyanin enthusiastically wrote about the celebration of Easter in St. Petersburg: "There was a smell of hyacinths in the dining room, Ham, Easter cake and Madeira, It smelled like Easter of Christ, the Orthodox Russian faith." This ancient Christian holiday, established in honor of the resurrection of Jesus Christ, is an integral part of not only Russian, but also world culture. During Holy Week, events were held around the world in memory of the last days of Jesus' life - his return to Jerusalem, crucifixion and resurrection!
In every Spanish city during Holy Week, there are always religious celebrations. Perhaps the most ambitious is in Malaga, where columns of repentant sinners who take part in the procession of the Sepulcro brotherhood carry a throne with a statue of Jesus Christ along the main street. But in the village of Villadiego, near Burgos, local residents arrange the burning of an effigy of Judas, which symbolizes purification and the beginning of a new life.
During Holy Week in Côte de Cartago, Costa Rica, a traditional procession called "The Ribbons of Jesus of Nazareth" has been held for half a century. A statue of Jesus is carried along the street, while each of the participants in the procession holds a colored ribbon in his hand, which symbolizes the promises he made during Holy Week, addressing Christ.
In England, pilgrims annually make a religious procession to the Holy Island, which is located in the city of Brevik-on-Tweed. This year, 60 people of different ages traveled along the tidal dam, who came to England from different parts of the world.
Do not forget that colored eggs are a must-have for Easter! This year, about 180,000 hard-boiled eggs were dyed at a factory in Tanhausen, Germany. British chocolatier Paul Young amazed Londoners with exclusive chocolate Easter eggs. And the German Volker Kraft, continuing a 40-year tradition, again decorated the Easter tree in his yard with 10 thousand Easter eggs!

Holy fools in Russia and in other cultures: holy marginalized or madmen
In the old saying that “in Russia, the holy fools are loved”, the holy madmen were gradually replaced by “fools”. However, this is fundamentally wrong. The phenomenon of foolishness, widespread in ancient times in our country, carried an important social and spiritual function. Interestingly, apart from Russia and Byzantium, there are few examples of this kind in history, however, in different cultures there were sometimes shocking marginals who tried to draw attention to social or religious norms, publicly violating them

Spring was the time when the days suddenly got warmer, the snow melted and flowers bloomed, so it should come as no surprise that people wanted to celebrate this time. Easter also has tremendous religious significance for many believers around the world
