Cats are perhaps the most popular characters on the world wide web. They are not only filmed in comic situations in photos and videos, and then posted on popular resources. Some artists also like to draw them. So, recently became famous Petersburg artist Tatyana Rodionova writes pictures, the main characters of which are these cute fluffy creatures. And today in our virtual gallery - cats in the most ordinary and unexpected life situations, skillfully played with the brush of a talented artist.
Tatiana Rodionova has created a huge cycle of works, the main characters of which are "mustachioed-striped Petersburgers". Such love for minke whales is explained by the fact that five cats of different stripes have been "registered" in the author's apartment. And what is curious, her pets are very freedom-loving, they walk by themselves, leave the house when they want and return when they want. And sometimes the ghouls bring their street friends with them. All this cheerful motley company inspires its mistress to be creative.
The artist portrays her pets and their friends in a rather ironic and comic way. As you have already noticed, catfakes do not just pose, they live a full life, they are sad and happy, make friends, work and rest, sing songs, fish … territory.
In the works of Tatiana, you can see all the representatives of the feline world - both sleek pets and lively courtyards. It is noteworthy that each cat has its own character, which Tatiana conveyed with amazing accuracy and love. And no wonder - being the happy owner of a whole company of tailed friends, the artist thoroughly studied their life, habits and addictions.
She transferred her observation and reverent love for these creatures to her work, which simply sparkles with positive and humor. The heroes of her paintings are thoroughbred and courtyard, of different suits and different ages, but they are all invariably cheerful, playful, sincere and warm.
I would also like to note that for the most part, Tatyana Rodionova's paintings look more like illustrations from some funny comic, while others look very much like naive paintings. Of course, the artist draws humorous subjects for her paintings from the lives of the people themselves. And funny, funny and such cute March revelers, endowed with all the qualities inherent in a person, serve as the personification of human virtue, and sometimes vices.
In Rodionova's plots, we see that catfakes literally live a human life. Like people, purrs walk the streets with their pets, swim in boats and fish on the Neva, relax in parks, raise their kids, have picnics in nature, root for their favorite Zenith team, sing songs and play, fall in love and appoint a friend date friend. Like people, they are "white and fluffy", sitting on windowsills and watching the busy streets, and homeless - getting their own food in the trash heaps. And the artist presents all this to the viewer in a very funny and cheerful form, causing him a sincere smile and affection.
But the most important feature of Tatyana Rodionova's work is that she depicts her minke whales as full-fledged residents of St. Petersburg, the entourage of which she uses in each of her works. The viewer sees the presence of a beautiful city, its stunning architectural ensembles and sights that are quite recognizable: squares, monuments, embankments, canals, architectural elements, the outlines of typical St. Petersburg buildings and bridges with wrought-iron fences thrown across the numerous canals of the Northern capital are also guessed.
The magnificent city landscapes, which serve as the background part of the artist's "cat" paintings, are not only the surroundings for all kinds of situations in which the heroes of the paintings find themselves, but also the hallmark of Rodionova herself. Her work is very popular in the Northern capital, where her personal expositions are constantly held at various exhibition venues in the city.
A few words about the artist
Each artist has his own path to creativity … Some - having outlined a goal, they go to it all their lives, improving and honing their skills. Others discover their talent only towards the end of their life and quickly make up for lost time. Well, there are those who, once having come into contact with it, with creativity, move away and go the other way. And years later, by chance, or thanks to some kind of providence, they are thrown into the abyss of creativity. They pick up brushes and paints and begin to create tirelessly, trying to express themselves and realize themselves as an artist. Tatyana Rodionova is one of those.
As a teenager, she studied drawing at the art school at the Repin Institute. However, after graduating from school, she realized that drawing was not at all her strong point, and entered the University at the Faculty of Mathematics and Mechanics.
For many years she worked as a programmer in one office. And once having received as a gift a selection of poems about cats, I decided to illustrate it. This is how it all started. And what came of this you saw for yourself.
And in conclusion, I would like to note that St. Petersburg cats are a special caste of purrs, whom the townspeople love and respect immensely. And there are good reasons for this. Petersburgers still remember how during the Great Patriotic War whole "battalions" of mustachioed fuzzies saved the city from the invasion of rats. And even today they carry out faithful service for the good of the city. For example, the Hermitage cats have long become the same symbol of the city as drawbridges and the Bronze Horseman. For more information about such a phenomenon as Hermitage cats, read: In which museums you can see the cat employees, and what they do there.
In the end, I would like to note that not only Tatyana Rodionova draws Petersburg fluffs … They brought world fame to the artist from St. Petersburg Vladimir Rumyantsev, who writes plot paintings on cat motives.
