Since the creation of the wonderful comedy by Henrikh Hovhannisyan "Three plus two" 53 years have passed: it was released at the height of the vacation season in 1963. No one expected that a one-day film with a simple plot (as it seemed to many at first) would have a resounding success at the box office: in one year the comedy was watched by 35 million viewers! It is interesting that completely different actors could be in the lead roles, and during the filming in the Crimea there were many funny and romantic situations.

The script of the film is based on the play by Sergei Mikhalkov "Savages". Initially, a play was staged based on the play, the premiere of which took place in 1958, and later it was decided to shoot a film as well. The heroes were supposed to be, as in the play, "a little over 30", so the first candidates for male roles were Georgy Vitsin, Vyacheslav Tikhonov and Nikolai Rybnikov. But director Henrikh Hovhannisyan insisted on making the characters 10 years younger. This is how the 21-year-old Andrei Mironov and Yevgeny Zharikov appeared in the film.

There were many applicants for female roles. They were chosen from among actresses, ballerinas and circus performers. The main roles could go to Tatyana Konyukhova and Lilya Aleshnikova, but as a result, the choice fell on Natalia Fateeva and Natalia Kustinskaya. At first, Fateeva was offered the role of Natasha, but she was categorical: either Zoya, or no filming! Kustinskaya was approved later; conflicts often arose between the actresses. Fateeva demanded to raise her rate and said that her name should go in the credits before Kustinskaya. Later they fell out completely and stopped communicating.

Actor Gennady Nilov still keeps a telegram: “Congratulations. Don't shave. Remain savage. Hovhannisyan ". So he was informed that he was approved for the role of Sundukov. Ironically, his hero was a doctor of physical and mathematical sciences, and Nilov himself decided to enter the acting department due to failure in the physics exam. At that time, Nilov was on a honeymoon, and in one of the episodes his wife Galina starred on the beach. In the film, Zoya and Natasha are going to the premiere of the film "Police Sergeant", years later Nilov starred in the film of the same name.

The film was filmed in Crimea, in four main locations: the bay of the Novy Svet village, the Sudak embankment, the Alushta bus station and the section of the Alushta-Sudak highway near the Morskoe village. The film crew lived in the palace of Prince Golitsyn, food was brought from Sudak. In the 1960s. the area of the New World was deserted, and it was not difficult to find a location for filming. But now this place can hardly be found - there are no deserted corners there for a long time. The actors often appeared in public in shorts - in the form in which they portrayed "savages" in the film. And at that time it was considered indecent to appear in such an outfit in public places, and in Sudak they were often stopped by the police, to which the actors presented a certificate from the director that such an appearance was necessary for filming a film.

The scenes with the circus were filmed in Leningrad. Fateeva worked with a tiger trained by Walter Zapashny. Unfortunately, many episodes were not included in the final version - where Fateeva leaned on the tiger, stroked it or patted it with her palm - since the hand of the trainer was visible in the frame, holding the predator by the collar. The scenes in the tent and in the car were filmed in Riga, where screen tests took place, scenes with the collective farm, where the hero of Mironov heals the cows, in Moscow.

According to the script, the hero Mironov falls in love with the heroine Fateeva. The romantic relationship continued behind the scenes: the 21-year-old actor fell madly in love with the 28-year-old actress and began to actively look after her. She surrendered under his pressure, but this relationship did not last long. Fateeva became his first love, and he was very upset about parting with her.

The director himself also starred in one of the episodes: Henrikh Oganesyan can be seen as a waiter in a restaurant where Natasha and Vadim have dinner. Unfortunately, a year and a half after the successful premiere of the film, he was gone - even during the filming, Oganesyan was diagnosed with stomach cancer. Andrei Mironov died at the same age - 46 years old.
