Everyone with whom he was familiar spoke about the complex character of the actor. Kaidanovsky was a passionate, straightforward, intolerant, uncompromising and irreconcilable person - if something did not correspond to his views, he left without hesitation. Those who knew the actor closely were sure that his unhappy childhood made him so: his father and mother constantly quarreled, and one day he ran away from them to his grandmother, from where he ended up in a boarding school. The order that prevailed there made him aggressive - for any reason he rushed into a fight. Later, this trait was transformed into the habit of breaking all ties, if they did not suit him in some way.
This was the case both in the profession and in his personal life. So, for example, after the 8th grade, Alexander entered the Dnepropetrovsk Welding College, but after a year he dropped out. When he graduated from the Rostov School of Arts and was assigned to the local drama theater, he immediately announced to the chief director that he was counting on the main role in the new play. After not getting what he wanted, he left the theater and went to Moscow. And there, having entered the Moscow Art Theater School, a month later dropped out, complaining of boredom. At the theater. Vakhtangov, not getting the role of Prince Myshkin, which he dreamed of, Kaidanovsky immediately resigned from the theater.
He was the same in relations with women. He met his first wife Irina Bychkova in Rostov, where they signed. Later he took her to his place in Moscow. True, the living conditions there were very difficult: the couple settled in the basement room of an old, crumbling house with rotten floorboards and musty spirit from the basement. In such conditions, raising a newborn daughter, Dasha, was very difficult. The irreconcilable character of her husband did not give his companion the hope that someday he would have a permanent job and at least some confidence in the future. Quarrels did not stop in the family. Irina threatened to go to her relatives in Rostov if her husband did not settle down, but these threats had no effect either.
One day, the actor simply did not come home. At that time, he had already begun a whirlwind romance with a colleague, actress Valentina Malyavina, and he stayed to live with her. Kaidanovsky first met her husband, director Pavel Arsenov, who often invited him to visit, but the actor did not agree. Later, he admitted to Malyavina that he was already in love with her and was afraid of meeting her. For his wife, this period was a nightmare. Later she said: "".
Their relationship was very passionate, controversial and exhausting. At first, both remained in families, although everyone already knew about their romance. Once Malyavina came to Kaidanovsky's wife and said that she was not taking him out of the family and that she was not going to divorce her husband. Arsenov was ready to forgive her everything and asked her to change her mind, but it was not possible to save the families. However, even living together did not bring Kaidanovsky and Malyavina happiness. After another stormy quarrel, they decided to leave this life together. Malyavina immediately slashed herself with a blade through her veins, but Kaidanovsky still could not make up his mind. And then the actress did it. They both spent the next two days in the hospital.
Such a relationship could not last long. After 6 years, both began to get tired of each other. Kaidanovsky felt lonely even in a relationship, and a breakup was inevitable. After their separation, the actor found solace in casual romances for some time, until one day, while filming The Lost Expedition, he met a young actress, a student at the Shchukin School, Evgenia Simonova. She was the complete opposite of Valentina Malyavina - naive, bright, clean and homely. She admired his talent and was ready to follow him everywhere.
Simonova, probably, was the ideal wife for Kaidanovsky - for the sake of her family, she repeatedly refused to shoot, even missing the opportunity to star in Nikita Mikhalkov's "Unfinished Piece for a Mechanical Piano". She was then expecting a child and decided to save her strength. And after the birth of her daughter Zoya Simonova did not return to the cinema. She accompanied her husband on film expeditions, including on the set of the legendary "Stalker" and without hesitation refused to continue her own acting career. But this did not become a guarantee of a long and happy marriage.
For 4 years, the actress tried to put up with the complexities of her husband's character, with his frequent change of mood, conflicts against the background of his groundless jealousy, but in the end she realized that it is easier for her husband to break off relations with her than to make concessions and try at least something change in yourself. Their marriage fell apart.
After that, Kaidanovsky had several more novels. Married to the ballerina of the Bolshoi Theater Natalya Sudakova, the actor had a son, Andrei. It seemed that by the mid-1990s. his life finally got back on track - in the profession his affairs went smoothly: disillusioned with acting, he went to directing. He graduated from the Higher Courses for Scriptwriters and Directors, tried himself in this capacity, taught at the Shchukin School, received his course at the scriptwriting department of VGIK, and in 1994 joined the jury of the Cannes Film Festival along with Clint Eastwood and Catherine Deneuve. Household issues were also resolved - after 13 years in a communal apartment, he received an apartment in the center of Moscow. Kaidanovsky married again, 23-year-old actress Inna Pivars became his chosen one.
However, the restless soul of Kaidanovsky was never able to find peace. His health was undermined and he suffered two heart attacks. The actor's last marriage lasted only 3 weeks: they got married on November 11, 1995, and on December 3, Alexander Kaidanovsky passed away after the third heart attack.
