On Monday, June 2, the Russian summer auction at Christie's ended. Experts have already named them the most successful in the history of the auction house. In a short period of time, the auction raised £ 24,000,000.

In his interview, Alexey Tizengauzen, who is the international director of the department in charge of Russian art, spoke about how the auction was held. The auction participants paid more than £ 1,000,000 for each of the six paintings. Vases produced by the Imperial Porcelain Factory were sold for 662,500 sterling, although experts set the price for them at half the price. There was a serious rivalry between the participants in the auction for rare Russian porcelain, Vereshchagin's work entitled "The Pearl Dream in Agra", the work of Nicholas Roerich, and the portraits created by Borovikovsky.

The most expensive lot at the summer Russian auction was a painting painted by Vasily Vereshchagin, which was named "The Pearl Mosque in Agra". Experts estimated the cost of this painting at about 1-15, million, but at the auction there was a person who paid 3,660,000 pounds for the lot.

Almost three million sterling was earned by the painting "Portrait of Countess Lyubov Ilyinichna Kusheleva, nee Bezborodko, with children Alexander and Grigory", created by Vladimir Borovikovsky. The portrait was painted in 1803. The cost of this painting was only 50,000-70,000 pounds, and at the auction she received almost 3,000,000.

The third place of the most expensive lot was taken by another painting "Portrait of Prince Pyotr Vasilyevich Lopukhin" created by Borovikovsky. Its experts have estimated 40-60 thousand sterling, and at the auction they were able to sell for 2 150 000 pounds. The collection of paintings from this artist, which was exhibited at the closed auction, was valued at 7,950,000 pounds sterling.

Among the expensive exhibits is "Landscape with a Bridge. Kislovodsk" written by Aristarkh Lentulov. This lot, according to experts, should have become the most expensive, but took only fourth place and earned 1,760,000 pounds. This painting was created in 1913, when its author was just beginning to combine traditional Russian themes with techniques inherent in Western Cubo-Futurism. Estimate of this work of culture was £ 1.5 - £ 2.5 million.

According to Tiesenhausen, those who took part in the auction were seriously competing for lots that had not previously been presented in the markets. Such works include porcelain from the European collection, which sold for more than 1 million and the collection of works of art by Ivan Obolensky, which was able to bail out £ 8,000,000.
