“Perhaps in this world you are only a human being, but for someone you are the whole world,” this famous aphorism is attributed to the outstanding Colombian writer Gabriel García Márquez. Whoever was its true author, there is no doubt that a mysterious world full of mysteries can be hidden in a person. Photographer and artist John Poppleton with the help of fluorescent paints, he “discovers” attractive “parallel realities” in his models.
John Poppleton is a real virtuoso who mastered the skill body art in excellence. On the site Kulturologiya. RF we have repeatedly talked about striking examples of painting on the human body, but at the same time, we have not yet seen works resembling the works of John Poppleton. The cycle of his "underwear" drawings was called "Black Light Bodyscapes", the artist created a series of exotic landscapes using the bodies of models instead of canvas. The photographs were taken against a black background so that the glowing colors sparkle in all their splendor.
On the backs of the girls, the most hidden corners of our planet suddenly came to life: the ocean in the rays of the setting sun, mountain ranges illuminated by moonlight, shimmering northern lights and even cosmic distances - lost stars and entire galaxies. The pictures are mesmerizing, it seems that the viewer opens a certain fantastic portal through which one can penetrate into another dimension, instantly move to anywhere in the world.
John Poppleton managed to combine the grace of a woman's body and the beauty of the environment in a fascinating way. In his works, the prototype of mother nature is revealed, the female creative energy becomes tangible. The landscape repeats the curves and shapes of the body, the artist skillfully uses different arms and legs of the models, as well as the hair falling like a waterfall. A real find is a landscape painted on the backs of two girls: one part of the picture flows smoothly into the other. John Poppleton's work is exquisite and elegant, his luminescent paintings embody the splendor of the universe.
