Modern brides are increasingly reluctant to marry in rented dresses, preferring to sew a custom-made wedding dress or buy a new one. Only later, after the wedding, this dress just hangs in the closet, because in most cases it can hardly be worn anywhere else. At the Colombiatex fashion show in Medellin, a young Colombian chef Juan Manuel Barrientos showed off alternative wedding dresses that not only look sophisticated and stylish, but can also be a great dessert for newlyweds. It's all about the unusual material for the outfits, and they are made of rose petals covered with sugar glaze. From a distance, it may seem that the fluffy skirt of each of the two edible dresses presented at the fashion show is composed of lace or beautifully draped fabric. But if you get a little closer, it becomes obvious that all these are the most ordinary pink petals. True, they are pink, red, orange and burgundy in only one dress out of two. The second is wholly and completely white, tender, airy - as well as sweet, appetizing, crunchy. This was demonstrated by the author and culinary expert, Jose Manuel Barrientos, biting off a petal from each dress on stage.
To make the bride's look completely complete, the same exclusive accessories are attached to the edible outfit. So, the jewelry of models, including rings and hairpins for hair and veils, are made of candies, and the bride holds the same edible bouquet in her hands. With such a wedding dress, you don't even have to order a cake. Although the newlyweds will certainly want to taste the wonderful dress in private, in an intimate setting, when the ceremony is over and the guests go home.
To make unusual wedding dresses, the author needed to cover about 4,000 rose petals with glaze. But he modestly keeps silent about the amount of sugar consumed for this very glaze …
