The project, which started 5 years ago, merged two traditions - western and eastern, because cranes make nests on the Christmas tree. Origami figurines perform not only a decorative function - good wishes are written on each of them. Paper birds for the Christmas tree are signed and celebrities. Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton are among the people who believe that a crane on the spruce is better than a bird in hand.
The City Hall of San Francisco always has a place for a six- or even seven-meter Christmas tree - the so-called "World Tree of Hope" (The World Tree of Hope). As conceived by the authors, it should unite people of different cultures and beliefs, with different orientations and material capabilities.
This year, more than 7 thousand paper cranes have gathered on the tree of hope, each of which keeps the most cherished desire of its sender. The Christmas tree will remain in the San Francisco City Hall until the end of December.
