When you look at photos from Lake Salar de Uyuni, it seems that these are pictures from some amazingly beautiful world, where the sky is everywhere. One gets the impression that this beauty was created by a talented photographer or artist who perfectly knows his craft. But, in fact, the author of this the magnificent mirror of the earth - nature.
This lake is the largest salt marsh in the world: it has an area of about 10 thousand square meters and lies at an altitude of about 3.650 meters (inner plateau of the Central Andes). The inner part of the salt marsh is a layer of table salt with a thickness of 2 to 8 meters. When the rainy season comes, the Salar de Uyuni salt marsh becomes covered with a layer of water and turns into the world's largest mirror, a real mirror of the earth.
Salar de Uyuni is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Bolivia, with about 60,000 tourists from all over the world coming here every year. And it is not surprising, because this salt desert is considered one of the most beautiful places in the world!
These places are characterized by large changes in temperature: at night it can drop below zero, and during the day the air often warms up to 40-50 degrees Celsius. The main source of income for local residents is tourism and salt: it is estimated that the lake contains about 10 billion tons of salt. Every year, local residents shovel salt into small neat mounds that look like snowdrifts, which allows them to extract about 20,000 tons of this raw material. There is even a hotel on the lake, built entirely of salt.
By the way, due to its large size and flat surface, the Uyuni salt marsh is an ideal place for testing remote sensing devices on orbiting satellites, the measurement accuracy here increases five times (compared to the results obtained when working over the ocean).

"Anna Karenina" - a mirror of the "immoral" revolution, or How Tolstoy shook the Russian foundations
At school, they tell a lot of different things about Tolstoy's novel Anna Karenina. They do not even ignore the fact that at one time he replaced television series for ladies - he was published in magazines with a sequel (and Tolstoy perfectly understood what he was doing - because of this, he treated his novel with disdain). But what not a single teacher of literature even thought to tell is the fact that "Anna Karenina" actually reflects all the burning issues of the quiet sexual revolution of the late nineteenth century
Uyuni salt flat. The salt of the earth and the mirror of the world
Salt marshes can hardly win a prize in the competition of the most cheerful landscapes: all around is the whistling wind, white salt and baking sun. But if you think saline plains cannot be beautiful, then you are simply underestimating Mother Nature. The colossal Uyuni salt marsh in Bolivia is the largest and most beautiful salt plain on the planet, which is sometimes the "salt of the earth" and sometimes the "mirror of the world"
Why in Russia they were wary of the mirror and what superstitions are associated with it
In Russia, mirrors were treated with caution, considering them to be magical objects, which are often used by sorcerers and fortune-tellers. During pagan times, in some regions it was not even allowed to have a mirror in the house, it was left outside. There were other prohibitions: for example, pregnant women were not supposed to admire themselves in the mirror. A baby who sees his reflection, according to the people, will cry for a long time, fall asleep badly. Read why the mirror could not be hung in the bedroom, who are mirrored

Another Earth is flat, hollow and completely unimaginable: As science fiction writers, scientists and visionaries described the Earth
The Earth is a ball, the third planet from the Sun. It would seem that there is nothing to argue about. But there are dissenters to this day. And if these statements make scientists clutch their heads, then writers and screenwriters often serve as material for inspiration
