The first thing that comes to mind when looking at Fred Lebain's photographs is that Photoshop is involved. And if so, then nothing special: with the help of a computer, and not so can be created. Nevertheless, there is no smell of computer technology here, and the series of photographs with optical illusions is based on the author's original idea, striking in its simplicity.

With his series of photographs, called "A Springtime in New York", Fred Lebine decided to prove to our modern digital world that in the absence of a computer, you can create original works and surprise. It all started with Fred's trip to New York, on the streets of which he took dozens of professional, but quite ordinary photographs: walls of buildings, fences, cars … Returning home, the photographer printed each image in a very large format. After that, Fred had to go to New York again: what can't you do to carry out your own venture! He returned to the same places where he took his first pictures, and placed the printed images there in the simplest ways: using a tripod or simply in the hands of an assistant. Well, now it remains to press the camera button again - and you're done!

As you can see, the highlight of Fred Lebine's works is that inside each of his photographs there is another photograph of him, taken earlier. Thanks to this move, each final shot looks like it has a slight imperfection, distortion of the shapes and outlines of objects.

Of course, when at the beginning of the article we talked about the lack of computer processing, we did not mean the photographer's experiments with color, contrast and other image properties. Without this, now, for sure, nowhere. This implies only a way to create an optical illusion, where the place of modern technologies has been played by the imagination and ingenuity of the author.
