Information technology has opened up almost unlimited possibilities for movie fans, and movie fans can get acquainted, without leaving their homes, with the cinema of almost any country. No one disputes that American and British television projects captivate with their spectacle and unpredictability. But the works of Scandinavian masters have become a real discovery for the multimillion-dollar domestic television audience. They present stunning multi-part projects that immerse us all in the extraordinary atmosphere inherent in the harsh realities of the northern part of the European continent. Let's designate the ten most revered TV series, which, with their originality, have conquered more than one corner of our planet.
1. "Lillehammer"
2011-2014, 3 seasonsLovers of black humor will appreciate this series. The brutal mafioso Frank Tagliano, who has hot Italian-American blood in his veins, surrenders his boss to the FBI and leaves the States, hoping to find comfort and peace in his old age in some lovely corner of the planet. The feds offer him a choice of any place on Earth.
Frank chose Lillihammer because he was very impressed by the last Winter Olympics in this mesmerizing Norwegian town. Arriving at the place, Frank saw that Lillihammer was just a snow-covered and godforsaken village. It has its own rules. But Frank, accustomed to always feeling himself the master of the situation, decided to take over the criminal management of this area. How all this happened - it is better to see with your own eyes once!
2. "Justified"
2015 -…, 2 seasonsA leisurely, a bit intimate and yet very cute crime drama that introduced the audience to the entrepreneur Axel Borgen. He developed his business in Asia for a long time and successfully, and then decided to return to his native land. He returned to the city of his childhood, located in the hinterland of Norway, to try to save a company that was not alien to himself from bankruptcy.
Everything would be fine, but only the inhabitants of his hometown, many years ago, accused Borgen of the murder of the girl. Who is the real killer? Watch this TV show and solve this crime puzzle.
3. "Legacy"
2014, 3 seasonsA real family drama takes place on the small Danish island of Funen. Famous artist Veronica Gronnegard has died. Her four children get together, and this happens quite rarely. But not only the tragedy made us meet, but also the mercantile interests, because we will have to share the property like a brother.
A special lot in the inheritance is the family estate. But it turns out that the mother bequeathed it to the fifth child - a daughter who was brought up in a completely different family. This multi-part drama was purchased by many European countries long before the premiere. The first successful season of family showdown allowed the show to be extended for two more seasons.
4. "Real people"
2012-2014 years, 2 seasonsPeople cannot do without helpers. They are needed everywhere - at work, in business, in everyday life. Swedish cinema has tried to play up the situation with robotic assistants with a human face and amazing intelligence. One mighty corporation gave birth to them. They are moderately obedient and hard-working, and some are even very amorous.
And everything would be great if an error did not once crept into the perfectly debugged mechanisms and microcircuits. The series is replete with many relevant social themes: lack of spirituality, lack of human communication, discrimination against individuals who are not like others. This show also has a British "relative" - the TV series People.
5. "Murder"
2007-2012, 3 seasonsThe Danish series turned out to be so successful that immediately after its release, it had a Canadian-American "relative" who also gained a lot of fans. An intricate plot develops around the strange and shocking murder of a fifteen-year-old girl.
An investigation begins, which with each new episode becomes more and more confusing. From the point of view of the presentation of the material, the series pleases with its novelty, since the viewer lives the story from three different angles: the cops conducting the investigation, the relatives of the deceased girl and the candidate for the post of mayor of the town, who fell into the category of the main suspects.
6. "Government"
2010-2013, 3 seasonsFans of TV showdowns like The Good Wife and House of Cards, which immerse viewers in a world of political intrigue, will appreciate this Danish series. The main character of the show is Birgitta Nyborg. Behind the uncompromising election race. This courageous woman, unexpectedly for many, wins and becomes the first lady in the history of the Danish kingdom to take the chair of prime minister.
Now she is a loving mother and head of government. She did not even imagine all that she would have to go through. A political meat grinder awaits her, from which it is very difficult to get out of the spotless person. The series became prophetic. A year after the premiere, for the first time, a woman became the head of the Danish government …
7. "The one who kills"
2011 - 1 seasonAt the center of the story is the fate of Catherine Rees Jensen. She heads the Criminal Investigation Department in the Danish capital. Her profile is cases involving serial maniacs and rape. She devotes her life to fighting such non-humans, as she herself experienced domestic violence from her stepfather. Her team consists of the psychologist Thomas, who has many dark spots in his biography, and the detective Stig, who dreams of taking the place of Catherine herself in the future.
8. "Code 100"
2015 - 1 seasonAnother fascinating crime story. A maniac appeared in the city, leaving behind the corpses of girls, decorated with daffodils. The victims are found in different parts of the city. The killer acts insolently, as if scoffing at the local cops. To help the Swedish colleagues, New York sends to help its detective Tommy Conley, experienced in such matters. His tandem with local police officer Mikael Eklund is to end the murders in the once quiet Swedish town.
9. "Secrets of Silverhade"
2015 - 1 seasonWhat is the genre of this show? The project presents an explosive mixture of intricate secrets, mysticism and stunning pictures of the northern edge. For some, the series will remind you of "Twin Peaks" and "The X-Files", for others - the recently successful TV series "Stranger Things". From the first shots, the viewer is immersed in a mysterious story. The main character is police officer Eva Thornblad.
She comes to her hometown of Silverhade. With him, Eve has one difficult memory. Seven years ago, her daughter disappeared here, whom she had been trying to find all this time without success. Returning to her hometown, the heroine learns that under similar circumstances a boy has just disappeared. She begins an investigation …
10. "Bridge"
2011 -… years, 4 seasonsThis Scandinavian work has raised the bar for a crime series to an outrageous level. The "bridge" begins with a unique bridge linking Sweden and Denmark. The body of the victim was found there, which is located in equal parts on the territory of two states at once. This gives grounds to entrust the investigation to an international duo: the courageous Danish cop Martin Rode and the extravagant investigator from Malmö, and at the same time the lovely woman "with many cockroaches in her head" Saga Noren.
Viewers will have to plunge into a gloomy atmosphere, from which a prickly cold constantly blows. They will have to strain and try to unravel the Scandinavian criminal tangle together with the heroes. They have been doing this with pleasure for four seasons.
