Contemporary art often tends to move away from concrete forms. Pictures can only reflect the mood of the artist or his outlook on life. But sometimes painting strikes with its unusual verbosity. Looking at some of the canvases, it seems that the artist was not creating a fleeting sketch, but a whole novel. These famous canvases can be read like a book, and every detail is of immense importance.

"Tired of" Alexander Makovsky

It seems that in more than a hundred years since this picture was painted, nothing has changed in the world. The outskirts of the village, a girl, in her hearts threw the buckets so that one of them even cracked. Water flows onto the road, but it is not up to it, because something much more valuable has just crashed. The work of Alexander Makovsky, one of the most expensive artists of pre-revolutionary Russia, is filled with light and youth. More often, in his paintings, he talked about the joy of life, so the plot of this canvas evokes feelings that are not too typical for the works of this painter.

"The Apotheosis of War" Vasily Vereshchagin

The second, later title of the painting made it symbolic. It is clear that we are talking about the horrors of all wars at once, the real result of which is only death. This idea is underlined by the inscription on the frame:. However, the first title - "Tamerlane's Triumph" - refers to a very specific historical episode. Allegedly, once the women of Baghdad and Damascus turned to Tamerlane, who complained about their husbands, mired in sins and debauchery. Enraged, the great ruler figured out how to solve this problem quickly and effectively: he ordered each soldier from his 200,000-strong army to bring a severed head of a depraved husband. It is not known how much the soldiers adhered to the presumption of innocence and whether they carefully looked for evidence of infidelity, but soon as many as seven mounds were collected from the heads of the traitors.

"The Monks (We've Drove Not There)", Lev Soloviev

We have all heard the expression "Repin's painting" Swam "". Not everyone knows that such a picture really exists, only it belongs to the brush of a lesser-known painter. Lev Soloviev - a native of a peasant family and a self-taught artist, created many genre paintings. However, the most famous is this particular comic canvas, written in the 1870s. The boat with the three monks was clearly "at the wrong address", but it does not seem that they quickly and with horror swam away from the bathing women. A little further on the shore, by the way, the peasants also wash themselves. Such is the old "girls - to the right, boys - to the left".

This canvas by another famous master of genre painting is imbued with real tragedy. Even the colors of a bright summer day seem to emphasize the main idea of the work: all this joy is not for a young nun. The girl has thrown away the embroidery frame and is looking impatiently out the window, while the strict mentor, clearly with disapproval, is watching her. It can take a long time to think about what she sees there, outside the window - whether a young man she has liked is passing by, or there is simply life, which now she can only think and remember.

The boys of Fyodor Reshetnikov

The painting "Deuce Again", beloved by all Soviet schoolchildren, always evokes the brightest children's associations: a school textbook of the Russian language … an essay based on a painting … Interestingly, this canvas is the second part of three plot-related works. The first of them is even depicted here (reproduction on the wall), and three times, like a mute reproach-reminder, hangs on the wall in front of the boy on the third canvas. It is very logically called "Re-examination". Also, these two paintings by the great master of social services. realism could be called "Crime and Punishment."

But the first of the paintings - "Arrived for Vacation", although it is usually considered part of a triptych, tells about something completely different. The joyful arrival of the boy-Suvorov soldier for the holidays is filled with optimism. However, here you can find echoes of deep drama: the canvas was painted three years after the Great War, and for some reason only a boy, his sister and grandfather are depicted on it.

It is known that at that time, children whose mother and father died at the front were often taken to the Suvorov schools, so the understatement was too clear to her contemporaries. This particular painting, for which the artist received the Stalin Prize, was, by the way, at first the theme for the writings of a whole generation of schoolchildren. The total circulation of postcards with a reproduction of the painting amounted to over 13 million copies, and this was a record figure for the Soviet Union.
