Among the actors and musicians who have earned popular recognition and respect, there are also those who broke the law. For some, this was a lesson for life, and in the future, a person led a humble lifestyle, and for others, it was a tragedy that influenced fate and led to death. Favorite actor was born in March 1915 in a peasant family and spent the first years of his life on Vasilievsky Island. The future actor graduated from school with a mathematical bias and decided to enter a circus school. Since the age was still too young, the actor entered according to the documents of his brother Boris, later the deception was revealed, but Georgy Stepanovich escaped punishment. Together with his partner, he came up with a circus act and performed with him. A little later his career in the circus was over, as the director from Lenfilm noticed him and offered to play a role in the film “Hero's Error”. After that, without hesitation for a long time, Zhzhenov decided to study acting, and his teacher, by a happy coincidence, was Sergei Gerasimov. Even before graduating from college, the actor had several roles.

But in the pre-war years, the situation in the country was tense. Many have suffered from repression and Zhzhenov is no exception. During filming, the actor met the US military attaché on the train. Colleagues noticed such a strange acquaintance and denounced the NKVD. After that, the actor was sent to the gold mines in Kolyma, where he spent five years since 1939, working as a dispatcher and driver. Despite his stay in correctional camps, the actor performed on stage. After the imprisonment, there were numerous wanderings from one city to another and playing on the local stage. Only in 1955 he was completely rehabilitated and returned to his native Leningrad.

All things were confiscated from him, and money was written off from his savings book. And Arutyunov's accomplice was sentenced to three years, which he served in a colony.

He was given a suspended sentence of eight years and three years probation, since the crime was committed by another person and at the time of its commission the actor was a minor. And besides, the court's decision was influenced by positive reviews from the Schepkinsky school, in which the young man studied at that time.
