Finnish photographer Susanna Majuri definitely has her own view of the world around her: her work is very unusual. Suzanne works with one of the most rebellious elements - she shoots underwater. Some people note that Mayuri's photographs are difficult to distinguish from oil paintings.
There is something frightening and at the same time alluring in her work - Suzanne seems to offer the viewer an escape into a fantasy reality where people can live under water. The models that Mayuri photographed did a great job: they had to hold their breath for a long time, and at the same time keep naturally and at ease.
Suzanne is an observer and at the same time a narrator: her photographs are like sketches for fairy tales, for novels about love that are yet to be read. Her heroines, as a rule, are young women, their faces are difficult to make out in the water column, and from this they seem a little lost and ephemeral.
“My main task is to show reality in an unusual light. I try to convey emotions, this is a very exciting moment. When I work, I have the feeling that something important is about to happen,”the photographer admits.
Suzanne Mayuri was born in Helsinki in 1978. She received her first education at the Academy of Arts in Turku, from the second alma mater, the University of Art and Design in Helsinki, Mayuri already graduated with a master's degree in photography.
