The human eye distinguishes about a million color shades - this is quite enough to perceive the world in all its diversity. However, there is a rare genetic mutation that can see up to 100 million colors. Tetrachromatic people are born extremely rarely, and therefore the work of the American artist Conchetta Antico is of such interest. Unfortunately, only people with a similar anomaly can fully appreciate the ocean of color raging in her paintings.
Without going into medical and anatomical details, it is very difficult to explain the phenomenon of tetrachromacy. People, the exact number of which, by the way, has not even been calculated, have, according to scientists, an additional type of color receptors. Finding out exactly how many children are born with this mutation is difficult, since most tetrachromats may not even notice that they are somehow different from ordinary people. This is exactly what happened with Concetta. The girl was born in Australia, and until the age of seven no one suspected the peculiarities of her eyesight. However, after she began to paint, some oddities began to appear. Bright, rich paintings evoked unusual feelings in people, and the parents soon suspected that something was wrong with the young artist. It seemed that Concetta sees on his canvases something else, inaccessible to the eye.
- the artist tells about herself.
The parents took the girl to a research center, where scientists were able to determine that she, too, is a carrier of a strange genetic mutation. Of course, she saw no other way for herself but to connect life with art. Today, Concetta is not only an accomplished artist whose paintings are admired by people all over the world, but also an art teacher at the university. Its feature helps to create an amazing colored world on canvases, but, unfortunately, only a few people can appreciate it in all its splendor.
True, there were also events in her fate that can be assessed as the evil ridicule of fortune. One day, Concetta's daughter started having problems with her studies. The girl grew up diligent, but the teachers were constantly unhappy with her. When her family began to question her, the girl admitted that she could hardly see the letters and numbers written on the blackboard. She had no vision problems, and the baby was sitting on the first desk. After a conversation with the teacher, it turned out that she was writing on the blackboard not with white, but with orange crayon. It is possible that this was the problem. Unfortunately, doctors diagnosed the girl with color blindness. Scientists believe that tetrachomat people are much more likely to have children with abnormalities in the visual apparatus, so Concetta took the peculiarity of her child to heart. Of course, she is very sad that the closest person is able to appreciate her work even to a lesser extent than ordinary viewers.
Interestingly, a similar structure of the eye is typical for insects, as well as some species of birds, fish and reptiles. An additional color receptor allows you to see even better in the dark. However, like many other skills, the ability to distinguish between many shades of color can develop. Researchers believe that the phenomenon of an American artist is not only in her genetic characteristics, but also in the fact that the girl from an early age was engaged in painting, improving her natural data. By the way, each person can check how sensitive he is to the perception of color shades. This test, compiled by Professor Diana Derval, identifies opportunities in this area. Those who see more than 33 shades in this picture may consider themselves to be people with extremely developed color sensitivity and potential tetrachromats. In this case, it is possible that you see the world brighter than most people, and are able to appreciate the painting of Conchetta Antico.

"Composition VII" by Kandinsky is a masterpiece of abstract art, sketches for which were made more than 30 times
The beginning of the twentieth century became an era of changes in all spheres of life and art. Painting was no exception. Artists were looking for new forms of expression in the visual arts. Some call his canvases "daubs", while others cannot take their eyes off the bright compositions for a long time. At the same time, no one remains indifferent
