The Italian city of Siena has its own tradition, which brings crowds of tourists to the city twice a year. Twice during the summer there are horse races - the Palio. The city has long been divided into quarters, the so-called Contrades, each with its own flags, emblems and names. The Palio involves ten horses and riders, dressed in matching colors and representing ten of the seventeen Contrades. One of these races is captured in the picture by Andrea Guarneri.
05 June
One of the most famous attractions in Denmark is the Round Tower in Copenhagen, built during the reign of Christian IV in the 17th century. The tower was built as an astronomical observatory, and Robert Floerke's photograph clearly shows the corridor that leads to the summit for stunning views of old Copenhagen.
