There are so many interesting, unusual, amazing, and sometimes strange and incomprehensible things in the world that one can only wonder. And it seems that there would be an opportunity - I would travel far and wide not only my country, but also the most remote corners of foreign states, saturated with impressions and emotions, like a sponge of soapy water. Alas, this is impossible, because if there is enough funds, then there will not be enough time. Therefore, let us recall the parable of woe and Mohammed, and see the second part of the amazing overview of unusual monuments from around the world, which we began to publish on the pages of the site Culturology.rf.

The Ukrainian capital turned out to be unexpectedly rich in original monuments and sculptors with a sense of humor. So, for a certain period of time, the streets of Kiev were decorated with very unusual monuments, for example, immortalized in wood and metal "Hedgehog in the Fog", created by the young sculptor Konstantin Skitutsky.

Also in the city center you can see a monument to a tree on which… chairs grow. And the bench on which the chairs are resting, but already, apparently, adults, matured, having seen life and met their four-legged love.

And thank the gentlemen for the fact that today is the day, and there is food. And - to establish in their cities outlandish monuments dedicated to certain food products. For example, in the Ukrainian city of Poltava, there is a monument to Ukrainian dumplings, a famous national dish.

And in Odessa they decided to immortalize not something, but … an orange. Despite the fact that they do not grow here, oranges are considered the saviors of the hero city of Odessa. Allegedly, in the 18th century, several carts with oranges, sent as a bribe to Tsar Paul I, so that he had mercy, and allowed to build a seaport in Odessa for the development of the city. The tsar was very fond of these exotic fruits, and therefore the next day he allocated 250 thousand rubles in gold to the citizens of Odessa. This is how oranges helped the city become what it is today.

But not only citrus fruits were honored with monuments in their honor. So, in the city of Almaty there is a surprisingly beautiful marble apple-fountain, where, naturally, guests of the city throw coins.

A forged apple adorns the city of Kursk, where the monument was erected in one of the Yablochnye Spas. It is believed that the copper apple variety is Antonovka, since the region is famous for these sweet fruits, which, according to legend, were delivered to the court of Queen Catherine II.

Mariinsk has a reason to be proud of this unusual monument, which is considered the record holder for the harvest of this root crop. So, it is known that more than 65 years ago, it was here that 1,331 quintals of potatoes per hectare were harvested, and the record has not yet been broken. And the monument was erected in 2008, which was declared the International Year of the Potato.

And what kind of potatoes can there be without crispy, juicy pickled cucumbers? And the monument to them is installed in another Russian city, near Moscow Lukhovitsy, and is timed to coincide with the 50th anniversary of this city.
