Actually, only animals have a skeleton, and even then, only in vertebrates - a separate subtype of chordates. But no one bothers us to fantasize a little about if skeletons were and, for example, for household items … These fantasies are reflected in the artist's work. Maskull Lasserre.
Skeletons are some of the most popular objects and themes among creatives. Take, for example, a series of Vertebrata photo manipulations by Marc Da Cunha Lopes, sexy skeletons in Lovers of the Hereafter by Jean-Marc Laroche, cartoon skeletons by Hyungkoo Lee and many others. art projects, one way or another related to this topic.
The Canadian artist Maskull Lasserre seems to be very fond of skeletons. Moreover, not human, but in general as such! In any case, this can be judged by the series of his works depicting the skeletons of simple, everyday things that surround us.
For example, in one of Lasser's works, you can see a snake skeleton hidden in a wooden ax handle, on another - a human jaw, which is part of a picture frame, on a third - a monkey skull peeping out of the corner of a kitchen table, on a fourth - a whole skeleton of some a small animal in the headboard. In total, the author has about a dozen such works.
Moreover, all these works were made by Maskull Lasser not using digital design, computer programs, but carved by hand, using tools for wood carving.
These skeletal works by Lasser are now on display at the Pierre-François Ouellette art contemporain (PFOAC) in Montreal as part of a collective exhibition of Canadian artists. But in November, his personal exhibition will open on the same site. It will present to the public not only skeletons, but also other works of Maskull Lasser, known for his amazing sense of humor and ability to see unusual forms in ordinary things.
